i made a categorization of monster girl species

there's 5 types.

Humanoid type:

Monster girls that have regular human anatomy save for a few differences. includes ogres, orcs, elves, fairies, dwarves and also angels and demons

Mutant type:

Monster girls with nonstandard human anatomy but without any animal traits. includes cyclopses, rokurokubi, MGs with multiple heads and kuchisake onnas

Animalistic type:

monster girls with animal traits, includes everything from mollusc girls to cat girls and inbetween, animal hybrids such as chimeras and manticores are grouped here too

Artificial type:

includes every monster girl based on something organic that's not animalistic such as dryads and slimes, any monster girl based on something non-organic is grouped here too, elementals such as yuki-onnas and eldritch monsters and shapeshifters are put here as well.

Undead type:

Includes everything that was once dead, or is related in some way to the dead. includes ghosts, dullahans and zombies

give me feedback on anything i could improve or species i should switch types. (i'm still doubting wether to put angels in humanoid or animalistic type) and feel free to ask where some monmusu belong that i didn't mention

Fairies are animalistic because of bugwings, but how are dullahans NOT undead? Their heads are lopped off for a reason.

Also, putting plant beings in the same type as "manufactured" monster girls makes little sense. Plus, aren't undead types still humanoid?

>Mutant types

technically, that isn't really all that fitting.

While, cyclops and sorta do qualify, it's a pretty poor definition and they could easily fit into the 'human like' category, though they are on the extreme end of 'like human'. and multi-headedness is more of a modifier or sub-classification too.

the Gazer is based off of the Beholder from D&D, which is classified as a "aberration" which is subtly different from the "monstrous humanoid" designation that harpies, centaurs, lizardfolk, etc are. it's technically more closely related to mindflayers than other cyclops. they are also technically artificial in a way similar to a familiar.

>Aberrations generally all have bizarre anatomies, strange abilities, alien mindsets, or any combination thereof.

also, rokurokubi, and kuchisake onnas are "technically'' undead, as they are a type of youkai, which is a spirit. so they should go in the undead group and bump the Dullahan into a "magial" category of some kind

d10402 (1) No.319804>>319901

>>319784 (OP)

The Artifical type category seems kinda like the "other" category where everything gets put in that doesn't fit the first four categories. Do plant monsters and androids really fit in the same category?

I'm also curious where you draw the line between humanoid and mutant. In the humanoid category you have succubi with their tails, wings and horns. Compared to that I think there is an argument to be made that a cyclops resembles a human more closely. There needs to be a better defined distinction between those categories if you want to avoid conflicts. I think I get why you put these two in their respective categories the Succubus shares every human feature + some extras while the cyclops lacks the human feature of binocular vision. But still there's a lot of grey area there that you should further explore.

Here's my take on it:

>mythics

Mamono based on mythological creatures or entities. Cyclops, vampires, thunderbirds, that sort of thing.

>beasts

Standard animal or even plant girls.Catgirls, mantises, alraunes and more.

>cryptids

Yetis, chupacabras, and other modern myths.

>>319810

except alraunes are based off mythology

8e1795 (1) No.319835

I say we should classify them in the broadest sense, as in are they vertebrates or invertebrates? Vertebrates can then be divided based on whether they have or don't have legs and how many they do have. Invertebrates can be classified by body composition (are they made of fire, slime, fungi, or are they just ghosts?)

Fairies are divided into different courts, the Seelie and Unseelie courts. The difference between light and dark. Wisp and Dullahan would be dark fairies, whereas the Leanan Sidhe and Pixies would be light. Kikimora is technically a fae creature as well, a light one.

>When home builders wanted to cause harm to someone buying a house, they would bring in Kikimora. Once she is inside, it is difficult to get her to leave.

Mutant type isn't necessarily less human than humanoid, the point of mutant type is to group together monsters that do not have "typical" human body structures. and the point of humanoid type is to group races which have more standard human anatomy.

Demons and angels are really pesky to categorize, on the one hand they have animalistic traits such as wings, horns and tails but on the other hand they're not really connected to the animals that they borrow those traits from in behavior.

>>319804

>>319793

i should probably change the name from artificial to "inanimate" or something, however plants and robots are still lumped together since the point of this category was to lump together monster girls that don't have any skin or are only partially made out of animal cells. additionally i added beings that aren't in their "true form" (hence doppel being there) since it didn't fit in anywhere else.

i made a sixth "supernatural type" in which shapeshifters, aliens, angels, demons, genies and yuki onnas are categorized now.

is that a good idea?

If you like one girl from a category, you're more likely to accept the rest as well.

About the same time as "all vampires count as undead"-thing, since apparently "devil" or "demon" types are around. Tends to be the base kind of vampire part of the stronger caste that is not typically humans that were converted via blood drain.

Species needs more of a distinction between the type that transforms into one from a human from being blood drain killed and the type that was born it from the start.

I think this might be a bit clearer

>Additive

Humanoid with _ (ex. green skin, long ears, more height). Features added on top of a human form.

>Mutative

Humanoid but instead _ (ex. one eye, long neck, no face). Humanoid features directly altered but not directly changed.

>Combination

Humanoid but with __ features, where _ is another naturally living creature (ex. horse body, wings, cat ears). Some humanoid features traded for animal/plant features.

>Paranormal

Humanoid but with __ features, where __ is unnatural (violates natural laws) or artificial (ex. automaton, undead, vampire).

You could probably further divide them into magical/nonmagical but that seems like splitting hairs to be honest

>… but how are dullahans NOT undead?

Better ask how the Dullahan became to be regarded as an undead. It basically goes back to most burgers having lost the connection to their German heritage.

Every burger knows the story of Sleepy Hollow, but because they have been culturally Anglicized they can only connect the headless horsemen to the Irish Dullahan.

Yet the story of Sleepy Hollow originally takes inspiration from the Folklore of the Rhineland region from Germany, were stories of headless young squires that attack young women in the night are common.

There are certainly Germanic burgers, but the vast majority are from somewhere in the British Isles.

>>320742

1. MGE's categorization is sloppy and imprecise. (>cyclops is in ex-giant type instead of single-eyed demihuman and is the only mg in ex-giant type)

2. there are way too many categories in the encyclopedia. what i had more in mind were "mega-categories" to sort them on their basic traits.

3. there's several species of MG's that don't even appear in monster girl encyclopedia and i didn't want those to be left out.

The largest ancestries of American Whites are: German Americans (16.5%), Irish Americans (11.9%), English Americans (9.2%), Italian Americans (5.8%), French Americans (4%), Polish Americans (3%), Scottish Americans (1.9%), Scotch-Irish Americans (1.7%), Dutch Americans (1.6%), Norwegian Americans (1.5%), and Swedish Americans (1.4%).[10][11][12] However, the English-Americans and British-Americans demography is considered a serious under-count as the stock tend to self-report and identify as simply "Americans" (6.9%), due to the length of time they have inhabited America.
