9) you won't have to waste your time keeping up with the politics so you can "vote"

Why do you think the monarch would tax you that much? He knows that would lead to the people becoming unproductive. A good monarch in this day and age would keep the taxes to a minimum, only to finance the army and the police force, and those are legitimate things to pay taxes for. If much of the taxes goes to the king, he would invest that money in building fancy new buildings for himself, not only enhancing the national prestige, but also creating new jobs in the process.
