What is it that makes some monarchies very successful, and others not? Why were the Incans a socialist empire while the British a thriving capitalistic morass? Why is Lesotho a pit of poverty while Monaco and Liechtenstein the wealthiest? Why was Euler able to remark on the stark differences in civil liberties between Tsarist Russia and the Prussian monarchy?
It seems apparent to me that monarchy alone is not enough, what makes a monarchy good, and what makes it bad?
