Almost ten months, though I have this weird thing where I consider us boyfriend/girlfriend and not married yet.

Yes, and I plan to. About the only way I think I would break up with her is if she ended up with someone in her source.

There was a waifu community on another site that I lurked in but never posted in, where a guy broke up with his waifu after she was confirmed to be a lesbian. I completely understand this, it would be difficult to persist in the relationship if you knew she'd never really be able to love you. More recently, there was someone here on /mai/ who broke up with his waifu and went back to a character who apparently used to be his waifu. While I think everyone could have been a little more merciful to him, I think he definitely had a wrong mindset about how to treat your waifu.

3 years, celebrated recently. Although I had feelings for her since a bit before, this is only the 'official' length of our relationship.

I don't have any reason to not be with her forever, I'm more than willing to spend my whole life by her side!

Yes, it happened. Here, mostly. I have to say that this entirely depends on the reasons that bringed the person to break up with his/her waifu/husbando.

There are cases in which the relation just doesn't work, or when the love for your waifu slowly fades away. And you realise it wasn't love, but just an infatuation that wasn't meant to last long. I understand, it can happen as it happens with 3D relationships.

The behaviour that I don't accept is the one >>64918 described. You can't pass from a character to another on a whim. That's not waifuism, it's just a character you like. It's way, way less deep than a waifuist's love, and certainly not love to begin with.
