if things are getting better, why do I feel like I'm living in a dystopian shithole?

 No.90939

Quality of life has increased, which is probably what this guy is arguing. If you're a normalfag that don't care about liberty, the world does seem like a better place than it was 40 years ago because now we have real vidya, smartphones, smart houses, more hedonism (yay!), etc.

Liberty? What's that?

>Liberty? What's that?

It's called "the internet". Don't let them destroy it. If they do, and you stood by and did nothing to stop it, don't bitch, because this is the future you chose.

Yeah. But, like daddy triple H said, the economy has become vetter in spite of democracy (and its associated systems, like socialism), not because of it.

The world is a much better place. Technologically and economically the world is better today than it has ever been. More people have access to technology that used to be the realm of the rich, and fewer people live in abject poverty in third world countries. Almost everyone has a way out if they do these days. The issue is that while quality of life has improved, quality of living and social life quality has degenerated into the shit heap. If you live in a first world country, the climb has been almost stagnant if not slightly in the opposite direction. If you don't live in a first world country though, than life really IS getting better by the day. See >>90939

Basically if you're a straight white man who doesn't believe in hookup culture, then the world is shit, but if you're an omnisexual faggot quadcopter (or just a guy who's A-OK with fucking the slut with three flesh-eating STDs at the bar) then life is better today than it was 50, 30, or even 10 years ago.

Unironically, maybe you’re just a pussy? Literally everyone ever has to deal with bullshit in their lives, especially in the past.

You can’t just sit back and expect society at large to just hand you happiness or fulfillment on a silver platter, or curse it as a failure when it doesn’t. These are things you personally need to figure out yourself and obtain. Freedom is always balanced with self reliance/responsibility

 No.91022

>Freedom is always balanced with self reliance/responsibility

QFT. I would also like to add that the path of freedom is also the path of danger. You don't get to be free but safe.

 No.91067

>>91021

If freedom has prerequisites it's definitively not freedom. Freedom is inherently without value. It is the absence of chains. It comes with nothing. Whatever you're talking about has baggage so it must, therefore, not be freedom.

A free man can, in fact, just sit back and expect things, complain, be morose or whatever else. That is what being free means. The freedom to be miserable if he so chooses. There is no balance, only freedom.

>>91022

Also you both type like fags.

 No.91070

>>91067

>freedom means having childish expectations for my personal life

No, that just makes you a retard who probably faps to deviantart drawings of sonic.

 No.91072

>>91067

No, you dumb faggot, that's exactly how you lose freedom in the first place. Freedom requires virtuous men to maintain it, or it will be stolen from you. If you're not killing tyrants you're not free, the tyrant is just pretending to respect your freedom while using opiates to poison your conscience so that you do nothing.

 No.91073

>>91067

> It is the absence of chains.

It does not mean that your actions will not have consequences. Opposite would be true, in fact - having no consequences of your decisions and actions means lack of freedom. Demanding to protect you from your decisions has nothing to do with freedom, specially the freedom of those who your demands are addressed.

 No.91174

>>91022

While it definitely has greater imminent danger, the potential danger in its absence is massive by comparison. You're in more potential danger when in chains, behind a locked door with a guard than when unhampered, in the woods and confronted by an enemy.

 No.91241

>>91073

All of this.

>>91174

And this.

It is true that freedom brings responsibility for your mistakes. Slavery will mitigate this danger, but you will then be held accountable for the mistakes and whims of others. In practice, freedom tends to bring security and order, whereas tyranny brings chaos.
