WHO WILL WIN

>China announces it will impose 25% levy on American products.

hopefully not the literal commies. also it seems that china is much more reliant on exporting to the US than the US is reliant on exporting to china, based on that chart. that coupled with china's slowing down in economic growth, as well as the nations instability

and its inability to control its massive population. compare that with the fact that this will likely Make trump more popular among his voter base, and we can see that burgerland will probably win while the Chinese could have a revolution on their hands.

I'm not entirely sure why the Chinese thought the best response was to tax American products that they already prevent themselves from buying due to devaluation of their own currency in the first place.

Also if you were running a shop, is raising prices on your biggest customer really a good idea?

Nobody wins. Not even the sides not participating. Even they lose from rising prices.

Maybe in olden times, but in the age of international markets, they really can't. Europe tried to stop Russia from importing their food by fucking with their European-Russian trade deals, and in response, Brazil/Argentina/Parts of Africa filled the quota and made Eurofags assmad.

I was literally posting about shit, but it's also true that methane comes out of one's ass, as well as decaying lawn trimmings… making the possibility of "control" mostly a regulatory, not geologic, endeavour.

Frankly, there has to be some subsidy, state monopoly, or similar for the geologic variety to have any market value at all. I'm not sure where it is, but I do know that your goddamn lawn trimmings can make a decently productive methane generator, as can poop.

…and you've got a fuckton of poop; it is not a terribly rivalrous resource on the back end.

Oil is economical to transport by ship due to energy density.

I wonder if it is economical to refine methane into more complex hydrocarbons.

 No.80864

>I was literally posting about shit,

And I guess you think posting about oil means literally posting about dead husks.

Obviously methane can be produced in different ways, mining it is wayyyy more efficient though.

>Beijing is hiking up tariffs on more than 128 US imports, including fruit and pork, as part of a tit-for-tat response to US President Donald Trump’s $60 billion package of tariffs imposed against China.

>The additional fares, which range from 15 to 25 percent, will take effect on Monday, the Chinese Finance Ministry said on their website. It added that the measure, aimed at “safeguarding China’s interests,” was in response to Washington’s package of tariffs targeting more than 100 types of Chinese goods, from clothing to electronics.

>The statement said China has suspended duty concessions on imported goods originating from the US, and has imposed a duty rate of 15 percent on 120 items of imports, such as fruits and products. The tariff rate for eight items of imported goods, such as pork and food products, is now 25 percent.

>China’s current tax-free and tax-exemption policy “remains unchanged,” the ministry noted, adding that the move comes in compliance with multilateral trading mechanisms and rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
