Anon, you're forgetting a key factor in this (other than inflation). Even if monopoly money is being used, real-world resources are being consumed for it. You can print all the money you want, but as you consume scarce resources with your monopoly money, they become scarcer until either your monopoly money is worth less than random sheets of paper made of the same material, or you run out of resources. You can enforce the scheme a little longer with brute force, but eventually something has to give- even in a great socialist supercomputer trying to keep everything contained like some sort of law of conservation of energy, entropy will exist.
Yes, on the surface the government just prints more money and the problem is solved, but if printing more money solved resource scarcity, Venezuela, and all the other failed socialist countries from Nazi Germany to South Africa would be thriving right now.
