Telling that you have to compare it to the US prison system to make your point. The US has probably the worst system in the entire developed world, and no one would deny that. It has abnormally high incarceration figures, bad conditions, and a culture that sees prison rape as a joke or a just punishment. No one, least of all us libertarians, would deny any of that. I would say that the US prison system is a lot better than a place like Kolyma, where prisoners had to do hard physical work on two thousand calories a day, or Pitesti, where prisoners had their heads immersed in feces in a mockery of the rite of baptism. No matter which is worse, though: Your tu quoque is pathetic, truly pathetic. It's like comparing yourself to Charles Manson to show you're not such a bad guy.
