Funnily enough, in the United States there was an act passed in 1963 called the "Equal Pay Act". Yet today we still have what leftists would consider a wage gap, it's almost as though women can make their own decisions to pursue different careers or maybe even take off work to raise their children, but of course "muh sexism" is the law of the land as it was back then and as it is now.

Either way, it appears as though Iceland's been fucked and cucked for quite a while, so I don't know what it was I was expecting.

 No.73829

>The new rules stipulate that all companies and government agencies employing at least 25 people will have to obtain government certification of their equal-pay policies. Employers will face fines if they are found to be in violation.

OI WHERE'S YER PAYROLL LOICENSE?

 No.73952

The only legitimate time I can think of where you shouldn't pay or discriminate one group is if you work for the government. Otherwise, in private business you could I suppose and let market forces handle it.

 No.73955

 No.73979

Who cares? This is fucking great. Businesses just won't hire women and women will go back to where they belong (the kitchen). If I'm an employer then I would obviously hire a man who is both cheaper and better at the job.

I swear all that vagina politics ever succeeds in is fucking shit up even further for the women they try to protect, it's like they try to wipe their asses for them, but in the end they end up smearing even more shit around their assholes, it's fucking pitiful to look at.

 No.74008

What I want to know is, how will businesses there handle promotions, bonuses, or overtime? Imagine being some Icelandic dude busting your ass staying late and never getting paid overtime, because if you did get overtime your boss would have to pay your female coworkers the same.

 No.74011

You are not forced to pay the same, your business simply won't be "certified non-discriminative." And it's not supposed to be "absolute," time spent working is taken into consideration.

<Why are you laughing?

 No.74045

>Time spent working isn't discriminated

Yes it is, otherwise the pay gap wouldn't exist. Women don't want to bust their asses working 20-40 hours overtime and leave the workplace for months or years at a time raising kids. That's time spent not working and probably accounts for more than half the pay gap by itself. Shit, the difference between part time and full time employment is about a 200% increase in pay rate even though it's only 10-20 hours more work (or about 1/3rd more work).

>>74245

The average work week in the US was 34.4 hours as of 2015. The Bureau of Labor Statistics claims it was 34.5 hours on average in 2010. You're claiming a 136% increase in working hours in the course of four years, which just isn't feasible when the number's been pretty flat since the 90s, so I can't see it as being more than propaganda.

Ah, never mind they're discussing ONLY full time hours. While it's true that 'Bama only created part-time jobs, we're increasingly moving towards a society where people only need to work a part time job to get by. More often than any time in history, people DON'T WANT to be promoted to managerial positions or get promotions since it involves more work. The only ones who take their vacation days are Europeans, most of Asia (despite getting more vacation days) takes fewer vacation days on average compared to the US, but it really depends on occupation.

As a general rule of thumb though, full time employment makes almost twice as much hourly as part time employment. When I work an extra hour every day in the work week, I bring home an extra $50 for every $100 I earn at the end of the week. The issue is the laws on the books making it harder for part timers to get full time status, leading to the high hours for full time (47 hours is not that high- I've worked 50-60 hours between two jobs while going to school and the gym. Most Americans would rather get shit faced drunk with friends on the weekend, but getting shitfaced should not be a sign of a "healthy economy"). As it stands though, we're getting off topic. As I stated earlier in the thread, a 1/3rd increase in work hours nets an average 200% increase in pay between higher average pay and then overtime thrown in. If a woman doesn't want to "bust her ass" working an extra 20ish hours per week, then she doesn't deserve the same pay and thus the pay gap is explained. Why the fuck does how much Americans work even matter? We're some of the most generous, hard-working, industrious faggots on this planet despite only being 56%, and our economy isn't going down the shitter while only being propped up by AMERICAN military bases in most of Europe.

As someone who's lived in a third world country I can honestly say that the poorest Americans are about the middle class when compared to third world countries. It's not great to be poor in America but it's not living in a wooden shack without running water and air conditioning. Have you ever even lived in an impoverished country? I don't think you would say that if you had. You don't appreciate the luxury of air conditioning and hot water until you live without it. It sucks.

Your standards of poverty are all either relative, meaning that it would be impossible to abolish poverty without making everyone equal, or they're not rational at all but are purely emotion-based. That's why we can't have reasonable discussions with you on poverty. That, and you insist that the US is still a free market paradise.

Incidentally, these are two markets that the government cannot leave alone for the love of it. If all the goods that the poor are lacking are those that the government provides or heavily subsidizes (healthcare, housing, security from crime, education…), while the goods provided by freer markets (vidya and television) are accessible to them, then you should reconsider if the market is really part of the problem.

I think I read somewhere that if you were to tax the top 10% of America at 100% of their income, it would only be enough to feed the welfare state for a year (and obviously those top 10% would disappear so you couldn't do it again).

>>74360

Let's look at those numbers relatively. If I remember right, an internet connection outside of business/school was a luxury of the rich and those who needed to work from home before the mid 2000s (I was still using floppy disks up until 2005, didn't get my first USB drive until 2012). Some 90% of the population still didn't own a microwave back in the 90s. An increasing portion of the population is DROPPING cable/satellite television (myself included since last June). I was using CRT TVs up until 2012 give or take… And this graph is from 2014.

The reason 25% don't have a car is because a car is considered personal wealth in the welfare state, E.G. a car actually disqualifies you from earning benefits in most cities. I know people who saved up enough to buy a car to go get a job, and they had to quit because they'd lose their welfare if they did. When you have a library right down the street/free internet at half the businesses in town/free internet at the school, internet at home does become a luxury item. How much does a videogame system cost? A computer (that's buyable at normalfag places like Wal-Mart ad not NewEgg)? A big screen TV? Notice how that graph doesn't even address running water or electricity because those are considered givens, whereas even in parts of Europe and Asia, running water/consistent electricity is a pipe dream. The only places that don't have running water in America are the boonies. That infograph is a joke speaking as someone who grew up in a household making less than $30,000/year between five people, and still managed to have a TV/Internet/Cable/Game Systems.
