The worst thing is, whatever "truth and liberty" movement there was, it's succumbed to the same fatal flaws that eventually destroy all non-radical political movements. You think with a principle as simple as non-aggression, we'd already win the War of Ideas. But since the War of Ideas is unwinnable unless you're a demagogue, the movement got hijacked, usurped, and many so-called voluntaryists defected.
We've been sold a very quixotic message that the way to advance voluntaryism is to change peoples' minds by arguing with them rationally and "getting the message out there." But has that strategy worked? Barely. Politics is a drug to statists, and like any other addicts, you can't just take away their drugs and expect them to recover, just like you can't argue against someone's political beliefs and expect him to become a voluntaryist. There's a reason billions are hooked on politics, they were either frustrated, despondent, or indignant about their current circumstances, most of which were manufactured by politicians to get their votes. Statists become desperate for solutions, which is when the politicians come in to sell them false ones that drag them along with the politicians' plans. They become so emotionally invested in their political parties, candidates, and policies that to go back on all the time, energy and money they spent and the social connections they made with other people, possibly even for years, is a very difficult decision for anyone to make. I wager that most people who become voluntaryists are either apolitical, or felt cheated and betrayed by their movements after their emotional investments didn't pay off. Although, the latter is a much more lengthy process.
