Anyone here who can make out what the scribbles in the video say? Though it annoys me how someone would scribble on books like that, even with a pencil, I still wanna see her reactions to Bureaucracy.

>Tfw Ayn Rand had Ludwig von Mises in her personal library

Great service she has rendered the libertarian movement in not making him more popular, then. I'm no expert on her, but neither Atlas Shrugged nor The Virtue of Selfishness ever mentioned praxeology or the Austrian School. I can hardly blame people who think that laissez-faire capitalism is dogmatic and quasi-religious after reading Rand, because I had exactly the same impression back then.

Now I'm pissed.

Also, thanks for not being a tripfag.

This is the biggest problem with Ayn Rand's work. Her support of laissez-faire capitalism isn't founded on solid economic principles like Hayek or Rothbard, but her own personal hatred of communism and the supposed moral superiority of capitalism, when everyone knows that economics is a value-free science.

Isn't it possible to defend Ayn Rand's work on both the solid economic principles AND it's moral superiority?

 No.69581

>>69580

It's possible to defend her viewpoint, but not really her work, from an economic standpoint. Fact is, even though she was right about the free market, she didn't make a real effort to support her opinion in this regard.

No one is perfect, but she is at least an introduction away from authoritarian themes. If she clicks with some, then that is one less on the side of socialism.

>portraying the masses as something immobile and lifeless that has to be set in motion by the chosen elite entrepreneurs is somehow not authoritarian

Are you retarded? No wonder so many "ancaps" and "libertarians" turned increasingly authoritarian with Trump.

She doesn't. She makes clear distinction between genuinely hard working people and your average lazy pawn. One is consistent in his ethics and morality. Works hard no matter what his job is. Is quick, yet patient to move up in life. The other is more focused on not only doing the absolute minimum, but making it so nobody else can do better. You could be working in a burger joint and be a more respectable individual to her than your average Leftist.

Those that have "turned authoritarian", as if they weren't in the first place, haven't read any of the people they profess to follow.

That's not what she says at all. The Galtian Paradise is full of hard working, working class people and hard working people who would have been professors, famous actors and engineers in world but came to be janitors, front of house shop staff and sewer builders in the Galtian valley. Because they don't think they deserve all this greatness and a comfy job, they're happy to work even if the job is considered a shit job.

The entrepreneurs are meant to be there to provide money to these hard working people for doing a good job, which is what's happening at the start of Atlas Shrugged. As opposed to what's happening in the end of Atlas Shrugged with the parasites of the leftist hoards being given jobs they're underqualified to do and don't try at not because they deserve a job but because they need a job.

I don't know where the fuck you got your line of reasoning from.

>your average lazy pawn

Nice elitism retard, and you wonder why people think libertarianism is just crypto-feudalism

 No.69717

>>69716

You're really grasping for the straws here. There's a significant difference between people who think for themselves and those that merely look for excuses and justifications for their vices. Those that have no will to achieve anything, but want the reward for it. I don't have to go into detail. Not all people are equal. You will not read any of what I'm referencing and are only trying to give yourself room to argue when there's none.
