I want to get back with an old internet friend who I haven't talked to in 2.5 years. Anyone has had any luck with this? What should I do? I added her on fb and have been trying to talk, but most convos feel forced an awkward.

I met her on a shitty chatroom. I don't remember what we talked about at first, but I remember one of the first things we did was watch the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special and we kinda bonded from there.

Already did, and she responded. The problem is that I have no idea what to talk about or how to have a conversation, and timezones make it even more difficult.

And, as much as I hate to say it, it's worth bringing up that two and a half years is a very long time. People can change a lot in that time, and if you two didn't change together, it might be that neither of you are the same person either of you used to like. It's sad, but it happens.

I had some luck with that recently. I had really good friend in middle school, but after that she moved to the other country (and haven't seen her in real life for last 10 years). We kept in contact for some time, but less and less as time went by. One day she wanished from skype. And then we haven't talked for like… 3 years. 4 months ago, I was just thinking about her, and by miracle found her facebook, added and started talking. We decided to renew our contact have drunken night by skype,we each were drinking and talking to each other for… I don't know, 8, 10 hours? About everything, what happened with us, our memories, international politics, drugs, relationships, art, traveling. We finished when she had problem with talking in right language. After that, we did similar thing a few times, sometimes with, sometimes without alcohol. Now we have really good contact.
You just have to break that awkwardness in some way and it will be good.
