Why is it that on other boards of imageboards people tend to be so rude?
What is the causation for that phenomenon?

Basically.
The anonymous nature of message boards make it far too easy to people to act unkind since there are no consequences outside of being banned.
That's not to say that anonymity itself is unkind.
Some places though are just a bit more unkind than others due to their subject matter however like video games. Some people are just unkind due to various influences in their life, like dealing with rl drama or having a natural preposition to being more unkind. The fact that imageboards tend to be populated with younger people tend to add to their unkind nature, although so-called adults can be unkind.
It's an undeniable fact that unkind is a basic part of existing in general and imageboards just reflect that even if it can be exaggerated at times. But just like light can't exist without dark and vice versa, the same goes for kind and unkind.

I don't think of it this way, it's just different tolerances.
In real life, you have to assume the lowest tolerance for what someone finds insulting to be sure that they don't get offended, but on imageboards the culture is generally pretty standard.
You can use friendgot as a term of endearment, and know that the person won't get upset about it. You can only do that in real life with close friends if you know they don't care.
Sure, if you do something stupid we'll all call you a fucking retarded cunt who should've been aborted. But no one actually hates each other that much. It's just exaggeration for fun.

If I'm unkind to someone it's usually because I'm stressed out, and trying to take it out on them. Though that's no excuse, really.

I'm a naturally abrasive person. I wouldn't say that I'm downright mean, rude, or otherwise un/kind/, but I have a tendency to be blunt, sarcastic, short with people, and pretty offensive to some peoples' sensibilities, particularly in my humor.
Insofar as that is the case, I don't act very differently behind anonymity than I do in the real world, however, I will notice that, because of the anonymity, I will assume more about the person I'm talking to. For instance, I feel inclined to assume that most people on the *chans are reasonably tech-literate, so if someone asks a simple computer question, I will then assume they must be either clinically retarded or an idiot savant in some other area that jells well, such as mango.

This is also, I feel, probably a great answer for the population as a whole.

Once upon a time I frequented an anonymous text board where everyone was kind to one another, the community was small and the culture was a close one. Outsiders were encouraged without anger or scorn to lurk before posting, and it seemed to work.
Then it began to deteriorate as more and more outsiders found it and thought it an appropriate place to "troll" and "shitpost". I still blame moot for closing 4chan's text boards, I think the waves of angry and lost posters really ruined a lot of good areas online.
I just wish to be a part of a community like that again, some day. We were truly all friends

The real world, and the workplace in particular are unbelievable shitty places. Anons get older, realize they wasted their lifes and education opportunities and are now forced to work a crappy wageslave job with no prospect of improvement in sight. Then they come back to where it all went wrong and cant help but be either dicks or depressed cunts, because they realized the very thing they used to escape and have fun was what ruined them forever, and they still cant escape it. Id be mad too, I am mad in fact but its no ones fault but mine and that only makes it more pathetic.

Some people's true natures can show through when posting anonymously.

Since 4chan/8chan is completely anonymous and unregulated (for the most part) people see it as a place to go to be cunts, so it has developed a culture of being a cancerous cesspool.
Many people like myself look to it as a place to be a dick for no reason, which is expected in and even the central theme of many boards.
I'm usually pretty nice and don't like being a dick to people irl but for me it can be an outlet of sorts for my more mean-spirited nature (like how people use video games as an outlet for aggression/competitiveness)

An old holdover from when one actually had to be reasonably tech-literate to own and use a computer, I suppose. Back before any random toddler had a smartphone and internet access. I'm getting too old for this shit

Chans are filled with cynics, normalfriends, social autists, furries, hikikimori, skin-heads and usually the dregs of society. That's why everyone is at eachother's throats. I myself am a pessimist and find the chans to be a cunto to other cunts.

So is this a thread for anyone's questions or just the one in the OP?
Where can I go online to talk with people whenever I want without pre-established relationships? I find myself often getting lonely in the middle of the night and Skype contacts I try to keep few because I don't feel reliable.

Well, it's for your question too now, so, there's that.
Of course, omegle is a thing that exists.
You might consider loooking at blah therapy, which is like omegle with extra rules. You can go there and pick to either be the "venter" or the "listener". The venter is just there to rant, or ask a question, seek advice, or whatnot. The listener listens, offers advice, et cetera.

Somehow I am way more /kind/ online than in real life. I don't know, maybe is the fact that I actually have to think things through before typing. I always reread everything that I post, go back to correct the mistakes I detect, just this fact makes it harder for me to be /unkind/. In fact, when I game usually I do type quite a number of ragey things but always delete them rather than press enter. A close friend of mine gets pretty passed at that and tells me I should just call people on their bullshit instead of ignoring them and playing my game, but I have come to terms with the fact that people online do not want to be contradicted, but rather have people to echo their ideas. Arguing is a waste of time with strangers on the Internet.

I'd heard of Omegle of course but that Blah Therapy sounds like goofing around with at least once, thanks. I'm much too inclined to complain all the time but I'd rather be someone to listen if it means being someone's buddy.

Well a bit of a spin on this. People can act like what they want without tying it to their idenity on imageboards.
I come here to take a break from being negative and fun posting actually and it works great for that. I'm not always unkind, I even provide easy fixes and the like for people. But I do hate when people ask to be spoonfed on the internet.

I wish there was a high traffic nice anime board where people are nice and not lewd and don't talk about how much they want to inhale my favorite anime girls' farts and don't tell other people to die and to get out of the board because they don't like them, I wouldn't even mind if it was a forum where people had names and avatars at this point.
