I'd like to take a bit to discuss the strange and rare weapons of the Vietnam war. I'm sure we all know about the former Wehrmact and red army weaponry of WW2 vintage. However, what I am more interested in is the uncommon "Modern" weaponry. Of particular interest to me is the G3/T223 and various other HK weaponry. Another interest is the in field modifications to issue equipment. For example, the SAS modified L1A1s, with the foregrip. Post pics, or other info on various mods, and share what you can. Should we run out of material, or you have other interesting field mods from other wars, feel free to throw them out there.

>For example, the SAS modified L1A1s, with the foregrip.

"The Bitch" was usually full auto heavy barrel L2A1 (or L1A1 converted to full auto with an L2A1 lower or by using the matchstick trick), the barrel cut off just before the gas block, a foregrip, and when they were available from the American forces an under barrel grenade launcher.

It is a little known fact, but the Vietnamese could only defend themselves against Capitalist and Communist Imperialism by using German® weapons.

Just wait until the Indians and Chinese have a go at it. It will be a meat grinder worse than the war of the three kingdoms.

Is there any incentive or indication for this to happen in the near-to-mid future, or are you trying to blueball us?

China and India have a gigantic natural barrier between them. Invading Australia would be less challenging for either.

Add to that that Vietnam had just fought a war against Cambodia because Red Khmer were too fucking retarded to the point where Vietnam had to intervene in order to stop that constant communist purity spiraling and purging. Which led to the absurd situation where US was defending actions of communist Khmer in the UN security council because both Vietnam and Soviet Union raised that issue of red Khmer doing genocidal things.

Additional absurdities were provided by Swedish media that praised communist Khmer regime to the heavens while media outlets in various communist countries were far less enthustiastic and outright sceptical about anything Khmer regime had told them or shown them.

Well we are all hoping that it would happen.

Remember what they said about before first world war. "War can't happen because world is so interconnected through economic ties, and because weapons are too devastating!"

What makes the whole Viet-Cambodian war hilarious is the Viets set Cambodia back up for its monarchy.
