>Cryptid loadout
Depends, are you researching, defending (yourself, another, or an area/item), exterminating, or trophy hunting?
>Sidearm: .45 auto-loaders that you trust
>Primary: (light) .303 bolt action or equivalent, (heavy) FAL or similar, high calibre sustained fire weapon, (short range) big-bore shotgun - 12 bore won't really cut it here, (long range) .50 precision rifle
>Ammunition: FMJ, JHP, AP, +P, ++P, +++P (you get the picture), silver, mercury/quicksilver, copper, gold, iron (n.b. not steel), tin, lead (consult your preferred astrological almanac and cryptid sources to choose the correct alchemical metal for your target, phase of the moon, ratio of latitude to longitude, season, and desired effect), incendiary, explosive, bone (either your own, a confirmed victims, or a sanctified individual), blessed (different cryptids will require rounds blessed by their own/a specific faith or one that you truly hold), irradiated, radioactive. You'll need at least a little of all of that for each weapon you use, where appropriate.
>Misc: Bow (see above for relevant arrows), sling (ditto for sling bullets, note not slingshot), gladius (also metal specific), staff cut from the wood of a living tree grown on the blood of your ancestors (must be replaced if tree ceases to live).
Your research loadout is going to be (relatively) weapons light and camera/notepad/audio recorder heavy - and no your phone isn't good enough even for ultra-amateur tier researchers. Your defensive loadout will focus around the heavy/short range primaries, assault/hunting on light/long range. That should do for general use, obviously certain cryptids will have different requirements. How large is your group?
