This is a technicality. If you know how small arms work then you know how to be safe around them. I would have rather been taught to understand the thing when I was that age than be brought up on the impression that I should act like it's snake. It maybe outdated, but it explains the system of operations very well.

You have to keep in mind that some kids are just stupid and are better off being told to act like guns are snakes untill they are old enough to understand how they work.
