Hey /k/, i've been curious about trying archery. Particularly using classic bows like longbows or recurves.

What bow is better to get for someone new? What's a good point to start?

Probably a compound with pulleys n sheeit honestly. Lower draw weight will make it easier for you to focus on technique, especially if you have noodle arms. You can probably find a club near you to practice in, and renting bows should be cheap enough that you can train on the compound then gib shekels for a recurve once you've gotten gud.

I hate you for asking that question. Get a fucking wooden bow, you cunt. Not that "HURR TACTICOOL HUNTER" bullshit. You look like a faggot and it's for pathetic weaklings. Strong men used nothing but wood, tusks, and resin to make the composite bow, for example.

Subhuman filth.

Start with a 28-30lb traditional longbow or recurve if you’re a manlet because longbows are usually a full 6ft in length and work on the motions of hand eye coordination, breath control, drawing and shooting properly before moving on to more trippy medieval positions. Increase by 20lbs at a time if you can afford buying bows.

Pulleybows are powerful and also maximum EZ mode

Get something cheap and easy to pull. Work on your fundamentals and don't worry about trying to impress anyone.

After you have proven that you'll actually use the thing, and have experience, then you can start worrying about better equipment.

Basically this. Investing in an elbow guard is probably more important than a nice bow since there's a strong chance it'll never get used.

t. made the mistake of buying a 120lb-pull crossbow and used it all of twice before selling it to a felon on craigslist.

Was thinking about getting a longbow. Wasn't there some method to determine what size longbow is good for me or shoukd I just get a 6ft one and call it a day?

Longbows are typically around 5-6ft tall by design. what you’ll need to know is how long your draw length is and how much weight you can draw
