I almost did Airforce ROTC when I was picking colleges. They basically let anyone in and would even bus you three hours to the nearest ROTC center so long as you were going to Uni. I remember when I first started at Uni long story but I'm a tradesman now, I was always talking with the ROTC kids since I parked in the "free" parking lot and took the shuttle up to the school. They were pretty fucking disgusting, but thankfully I'm in a relatively conservative city so even our AntifaNiggers are "peaceful" because they know the cops really want an excuse to beat them within an inch of their lives. I know most of them had picked their major around the idea of serving the shortest contract possible while still getting all the military benefits, so there weren't a lot of women's studies majors, but there were a ton of BA business majors. The ROTC brass were always bitching at that school because they couldn't get any science or engineering students to do ROTC since you basically had to take 5 years of schooling or do 18 credit hours/semester to get a degree (since the school was designed more around their masters/doctorate program and only taught at the bachelor level because the federal government told them they had to). Like I said though, my encounters with AirForce and Army ROTC were limited at best.

In February I was 225 pounds, and starting to suffer from panic attacks and depression. I was completely losing my shit. I completely changed my diet, keeping carbohydrates below 20 grams (mostly coming from onions, mushrooms and carrots), removed all sources of industrially degraded fats/oils, eating once a day, and having lots of organ meats, saturated fat, bone broth (collagen) and salts (sodium, potassium, magnesium).
I'm now ~165 pounds, the panic attacks and depression are gone. In addition, my blood pressure (which was"slightly high" and considered "typical" in my family) is now ideal, my joints no longer hurt after activity, and I actually have motivation to do things.

I don't have them any more since it died with my old computer, but there used to be statistics showing that the only ones who do that are Pacific Islanders. Army Reserve dude here. The state of the reserves is pretty fucking embarrassing. A lot of the dudes in my platoon are visibly fat, one or two of which are obese looking. The problem is the P.T. requirements. The minimum amount of push-ups required is 42 for my age, and 71 is considered top shape. I got off my lazy depressed ass cause we have a P.T. test in about a week. I was only able to do like, 20 push-ups. In the past 4 days, I already made it to the minimum, with a weak ass "training program" I made up.
I believe there should be some much more intense requirements. The only thing they almost get right is the 2 mile run, which with no training and a half pack a day I can almost do in the minimum amount of time (16 minutes), because it actually is pretty challenging to pull off the max.

What eating once a day does is maximizes the time that the body is most efficiently burning fat due to no insulin response from any food (while carbohydrates create a large insulin spike, protein and to a much lesser extent fat will also do result in some generation as well).
My calorie intake was roughly 1200-1500 a day, both before and after my diet change. The moment I replaced carbohydrates with fat, I started dropping weight. The issue wasn't I was eating too many calories, it's that the unnaturally large percentage of my diet that was carbohydrates had fucked up my hormones.

Intermittent fasting is actually very healthy for.the body because it gives your body the chance to break down the toxins built up in your liver and such over the course of a day. Jesus and the church in general recommend fasting to purify the body for a reason. Humans are basically designed to eat one of two ways:
1) Very small meals throughout the day (6 meals a day method)
2) Two large meals a day spread at least 8-10 hours apart
One meal a day isn't good for your body unless you live a sedentary lifestyle and don't exercise. If you exercise, you need at least two meals a day with your breakfast consisting of your carbohydrates (and some fats/proteins to break down throughout the day) for energy to use, and your dinner consisting mostly of fats and proteins to break down slowly while you recover. If you're a professional weightlifter or athlete in general you probably shouldn't be fasting, but if you're not a professional athlete, doing an intermittent fast 5 or 6 days a week with one day dedicated to eating "normally" (read: not stuffing your face) is extremely healthy and you'll immediately feel better after two or three days of doing it once your body adjusts/stops giving you hunger pangs since your stomach learns when meal times are.

I have no idea how it is physically possible to become fat in the military. I knew a few guys who were a overweight when they joined, but most of them burned through that fat rather quickly once winter hit us. You have to be addicted to fast-food for something like that to happen.
I remember rumors about you Americans having McDonals and shit in your garrisons. I also remember your fast-food stores in places such as Grafenwöhr. Pretty much this. It's not even just that either – the constant "tension points" are only happening due to this as well. Remember "we will have to invade Norks!" a year ago or "Iran is a terrorist state!" this year? Fuck, the whole Afghanistan war has been going for almost two decades now, only so that more money can be funneled in. The most optimal situation is if many soldiers die, but no so many as to make people shout for a retreat. That way, there will be an argument to send in reinforcements/modernise the gear/further train and equip locals/do more military exercises and similar shit that likely won't do much to help on the ground, but will justify spending billions of dollars. If the troops did well, crushed the enemy no problem with little casualties and ended the war in a year or two, then there would be no reason to increase the budget. Think of all the shekels that would never be paid to the military industry, all the bombs and ammo that would remain unsold. Troops die because the bussinessmen and politicians at home want them to die, that's the sad truth of the situation.

Rule 1. People don't sign up for money. They sign up because they like their country and want to do something for it. Any soldier that signs up for the cash or the benefits is not going to be there when a war happens, they will just leave. We learned this the hard fucking way in desert storm. The reason why we have a recruiting problem is because most Americans don't even vaguely like America anymore. This is a morale problem, you can't throw money at it and reduce standards to compensate.
Rule 2. Basic training is cheap. It does not matter how much weight a soldier has when they join up, it just means you leave them in basic training for longer than the average recruit. They will lose the fat. No one can eat 2000 calories per day, spend 4000 calories per day, and maintain or increase their weight. The reason why troops are fat is not because civilians gained weight, but because we are putting less effort into turning civilians into soldiers.
Rule 3. Rule 1 and Rule 2 will be ignored by everyone because it takes a spine to look at reality and make real adjustments, it's much much easier to ignore reality and do whatever is politically expedient.

First of all most of these vending machines are in high traffic/high demand areas - such as next to subway exits where most passengers buy a sandwich when they're going to work or leaving it. This actually means they have to refill some machines multiple times per day just to keep up with demand.
Second of all, do you think it's any easier in a buffet or all-you-can-eat type restaurant? Where food is exposed to air? And everyone is handling it? Japanese machines are climate controlled, they have reduced humidity etc. No one touches the food either, which means the freshness stays for much longer.
The problem Western vending machines face is crime. They can't just put a vending machine next to a bus stop and expect it to not be smashed by tomorrow. So vending machines get put in a corner somewhere and no one ever uses them. Also the glass is there to protect the merchandise from thieves, not to control the climate. All this means the food in them basically has to be resistant to spoilage and taste like ass.
