I was considering posting this in the QTDDTOT thread, but thought better of it and made it its own thread to avoid clogging that one. In any case, here's something I've been thinking about for a while. Suppose a hostile nation like China or a CIAnigger cell looking to justify their bloated paychecks plan a massive attack with a toxin of some sort. Before that, though, they stage a little test run by picking a grocery store, farmer's market, deli or what have you, at random. They infiltrate the establishment and poison most if not all of the food products there. The toxin itself is obscure, almost unfailingly lethal, has a few days' delay before it kicks in and is quickly metabolized out of the body so it cannot be traced easily. Ignoring the logistics of the actual deed of poisoning row upon row of foodstuffs in secret, what death toll can be expected before anyone catches on and suspets foul play? And more importantly, what measures would you take in order to avoid becoming a victim of such an attack even if you don't know it's coming?

So it's Ricin, Abrin or some other protein synthesis inhibitor.

The answer to that is growing your own food. There's apparently a vaccine against Ricin, but I doubt it's anywhere near cheap.

Depends on how much was ingested by the affected. If they're going for broke then probably every single person who ingested the agent would be dead within hours or days. As for suspecting foul play, it depends entirely on the media. If they expose the agent then a lot of people will catch on since that much Ricin is just too large a quantity to be produced by sandniggers who barely know how to work their Kalashnikovs. If they don't expose the agent, they'll probably say something along the lines of "the terrorists got a hold of an old US chemical weapon that originally belonged to Saddam" or some shit. This is all purely theoretical, of course, as I'm sure you understand, Mr. Glowinthedark.

I'm not going to say what, but there are substances which are easy to synthesize, take a couple of months to kill, and are 100% lethal even at 1ppt concentrations.

Someone dumping a cup into the local water towers of a few dozen cities every day for three months, and then probably another month before the source was localized, could literally kill 10 million people before anyone caught on.

Nah the trials on rats all failed, it only works in a petri dish when every ligand is a ricin molecule, and even then not very well.

The only real countermeasure to ricin is getting your blood swapped like 4-5 times.

Here's a question. Why do terrorist target major cities such as London or NYC when they could kill people on public transportation found on small to mid sized major cities?

Surly hitting the small cities would cause more panic than focusing on NYC.
