So /K/ Its been on my mind for awhile but how hard is it to get a fighter slot? Ive been in CAP and had many orientation flights and now ready for college. Is there a good route to it. Ive heard academy is solid. Ideas?

Unsolicited advice given to me by a retiree in San Antonio: Academy is trash if you want to fly. Go Guard/Reserve, start college, become an officer through ROTC, if you become a pilot and enjoy it then go Active Duty. Officers get the same shaft that enlisted get where the Air Force gives them the job the Air Force needs, but if you're Guard/Reserve you get more leeway (not sure how, but Guardsmen have told me the same thing.) What you fly will probably be limited to whatever planes they fly at the nearest base.

Also, double check the advice with other folks already in, active and reserve. 8/k/ hasn't given good advice since 2015.

Joking aside you have to stream into it based on health, physique and IQ. They don't take just anyone.
