Bullets don't kill through hydrostatic shock, they kill through bloodloss. All hydrostatic shock does is momentarily disrupt the CNS causing the target to momentarily collapse; it may have a chance to get up.
The order goes like this:
>bullet hits the target
>hydrostatic shock downs the animal/person
>animal/person bleeds out
>loses consciousness due to bloodloss
>dies because of bloodloss
Also hydrostatic shock has several velocity cutoffs for different calibers.
>2600 fps for small bores
>2200 fps for medium bores
>1800 fps for large bores
Below these velocities with respective bore sizes hydrostatic shock is negligible.
