The sun. You grow crops. Or you grow grazing grass for your livestock. That said, if you have an option for living in a body of water, that would be preferable. It makes it very difficult for anyone to approach your shelter, and small aquatic life is nearly inexhaustable - at least when you're the only person fishing in a considerable radius. Anchor yourself some distance off coast and sit there for as long as you need. If you're in the ocean you gonna need a desalination device. It would also be a good idea to make the whole shelter submergible, so that you don't get fucked up during a storm. It only needs to go 10 meters deep, that's 1 bar pressure. You can pressurize your vessel from inside out to equalize the pressure to remove the stress from the structure. Or you can just do it the water-bell style, let the water enter the bottom half of the structure until the pressure equalizes.

Middle of nowhere, six hundred acres and the only people in the immediate vicinity are the ones upstairs and the lady way way down the road. Hell I make my own power too. Only thing that connects me to the outside world is a line that runs under an unfathomable amount of woodland. I could honestly turn the property into a commercial farm sort of thing if I decided to remove all the old growth and such.

Step one is don't let companies dump industrial waste in your local water supply. It happens every fucking day, because no one takes out a camera literally in their pocket all the time! and takes a picture of it happening so it can be reported.

Step two is push your mayor to do better water sanitation. All your poop is collected, mixed with a buffer, and sprayed into nearby rivers with little to no treatment. This kills your water supply. So start writing letters to mayor.

Step three is get a fishermans license or join a fishermans club and begin pestering the club to engage in restocking. If they can't afford restocking, get them to think about roughing up the shoreline. Fish love rough shorelines, with semi-aquatic trees, shrubs and grasses to provide cover for the newly hatched fry. Your fishing club can do as little as buying a few bags of seeds from marsh loving plants and emptying them out in a few choice spots along the riverbank.

Do these 3 things and you got yourself a ready made food and water supply next to every city.
