so i was playing hotline miami recently and theres this guy called biker. he kills people using a cleaver

and now im wondering if a meat cleaver would even be any good as a weapon in real life. i think it would probably just be a shitty version of a machete. i mean it would probably work like a machete since you cant stab with it but instead just hack and slash

5d7e2f No.552719

You should test it on a refugee.

silly anon

So OP is actually suicidal and is asking for wrist cut techniques?

>>552706

cleavers as a weapons are pretty stupid (unwieldy, low reach, heavy) but some positive aspects are

>relatively flat

>blunt nose wouldn't require a sheath

>can be inconspicuous in a kitchen

>you'll probably be profiled as a chink chef

9033f9 No.552726

well its whole job is to cut through flesh, so once you get it to someone it should work fine, and has all the upsides of a tool (normal to have, readily available, cheap)

what it has over the machete is the ability to be concealed and used in extremely tight spaces

does it fly decently when thrown? that could be a bonus

>well its whole job is to cut through flesh

But it's not, it's actually pretty shit for cutting flesh. Other knives are used to cut away at the meat and then a cleaver is used to chop the bone.

HM is allowed in Germany?… As in the same Germany that banned galgun2 and turned all the NPCs in half life and command and conquer generals into robots because you cant depict violence against people?

it is lol.

but in hotline miami 2 there is this one level song called "sexualizer" and it originally had moaning sounds in it but they edited it out, so bashing peoples heads in with a baseball bat is an OK but moaning sounds? thats too far goy

df0f36 No.552800

It's a makeshift weapon, Hans. It's shit, but better than nothing.

b5e934 No.552875

Everyone ITT is wrong. If you see someone on the street with a cleaver, run. 100% chance he has killed tougher people than you.

Apply 'lightsaber logic'

>Person approaches wielding weird/stupid weapon

>Person with weird/stupid weapon is either insane or amazing with that retarded weapon.

>If he was that insane he would either have killed himself with the stupid weapon or would have been beaten by people with less stupid weapons.

>Therefore it stands to reason that he's incredibly good with that retarded weapon, and that you should be worried.

>In the length of time it's taken you to think through this conclusion your window to run has vanished and you should resign yourself to going down swinging.

On a more serious note have we considered mounting the cleaver on a pole?

Probably the best choice to maximize effectiveness.

Exactly, it would be a relatively shitty - Jerry rigged - Bardiche. Not as good as an actual bardiche, but better than the retard who's waving a cleaver around in his hands.

It's not particularly weird or stupid. You have to keep in mind that good quality mass produced knives didn't exist about 10-15 years ago. You had quality pocketknives, and cheap shitty rambo knives or switchblades (which street punks liked to use.) Anybody serious about killing with a blade had 3 options - a legitimate combat knife (impossible to explain away having one of these on your belt), A straight razor (flimsy, require finesse, only good for killing people who don't see it coming), or - a meat cleaver in a cardboard sheath. You can always say you're a butcher on his way to work, as it's primarily a tool (however, it's a tool designed for separating flesh and bone, handily enough.)

Nowadays, you might be facing a hotline larper, but even so - do you want to take a cleaver to the hand or arm (which is all but unavoidable in a 'knife fight')? You will lose fingers or nerves.

I'd say it would be pretty good, considering its design of just being a big heavy piece of sharpened metal, more for "chunking" into people than slashing.

This'd be a lot simpler, if he had a rifle, or at least a handgun. Lot less filth all over the place, too.

There are only two good bladed weapon types: stilettos and sabres. Technically stilletos don't have a blade but whatever. These two are peak optimized to kill, stiletto with a thrust and sabre with a slash. All other weapons are a compromise between those in one or many ways. A knife is a shittier stiletto with a shitty near-useless blade. A straight sword is a sabre with a shitty near-useless thrusting point. Some would say that in a hand to hand combat you want options, but you really don't. What you want is a mastery of one specific weapon to perfection. Both thrusting and slashing are equally good at killing people, and both can (or cannot) be stopped with the same armor. Being more skilled with your weapon is, by a wide margin, a better option than being able to both slash and thrust but having your weapon being sub-optimal at both and not having as much skill to apply it.

So, stiletto on the rifle, and sabre at the side, then? Sounds good to me!

Its a sharp heavy chunk of metal. I reckon itd be the equivalent of a hatchet. That cop in bongistan sure found out how good a weapon they make.
