Shogun has a similar story but isn't packed with western guilt. It's fights scenes aren't that great but it has a really nice gray area of morality story in it.

What new movies have been any good? I liked Sicario quite a bit, and the writer (Taylor Sheridan) did 2 other great flicks, hell or high water and wind river. Wind river is every /k/ommandos wet dream: a man who hunts spoops wolves, and subsequently fucks people up with a marlin 1895sbl in the end. Granted the body impacts from the 45-70 were hollywooded up but awesome.

Everything about the film is terrible from a /k/ perspective, from swords cutting through gun barrels to samurai not using guns because "hurf durf honor".

That's the one, I think it tends a bit more towards action where Zulu is more a mixture of build up and singing. There's also a Swedish priest in Zulu who takes his daughter with him, tries to convince everyone not to fight the natives because they can't win and then gets massively drunk.

It's an awesome assassination thriller centered around a fictional follow up attempt on Charles de Gaulle's life after the (historically factual) failed assassination attempt in 1962. It's absolutely fantastic all the way up to the last 30 seconds which is a cheesy, hollywood-gun-tier ending.
