Polymer frame handguns, does /k/ take a soldering iron to theirs? If so show it off, lets hope you didn't fudge it up too bad. It helps with grip especially if you have a gen 3 Guac like me… Not to mention aesthetics. Pic related.

25dd7b No.543636

Did this one today for a guy at work, call it sprinkles.

aa4750 No.543657

Why the fuck do people do this? Are their hands covered in a layer of vaseline at all times so they feel the need for EXTRA GRIPPING POWER?

566948 No.543677

BIKE TAPE

works better, looks better, doesn't fuck up the plastic, doesn't kill the resale value

7bd336 No.543678

that looks pretty damn aesthetic. good job man, its easy to fuck up something like this

The fuck is wrong with you people

f95930 No.543688

Some of us don’t intend to sell guns we’ve personalized. And triggering people is fun.

cf81be No.543689

>>543688

Just because you don't intend to sell them doesn't mean you should ruin them.

If you really want a fancy grip lot on your glock, get a professional to do something that doesn't look like someone took a cheap iron to the thing.

f95930 No.543690

>>543689

It’s a Glock, it’s already ugly, and I have others.

cf81be No.543691

>>543690

That kind of indifference to your guns only makes it worse.

f95930 No.543693

>>543691

They’re tools. They get carried, sweated on, rained on, dirty, muddy, and their sole purpose is for ventilating a motherfucker or training for ventilating a motherfucker. They function the same as they always did. People do stupider shit to their cars. If it was something actually worth keeping original or close to it, or something sentimental, then I’d agree with you.

cf81be No.543695

>>543693

You should care for your tools.

To disrespect them, and then just cast them aside when it suits you, is irresponsible.

If you properly care for your tools, they will last your lifetime. Potentially longer, provided your children take proper care of them, too.

Cars are different. They do not last, and they're what people look at, when judging you. They're like a coat, or a set of shoes. They wear down, and you replace them.

aka no fun allowed

cf81be No.543699

>>543697

You can have fun. Just, maybe don't take a fucking soldering iron to your gun, and instead look for either temporary and easily fixable solutions, or professional work.

f95930 No.543700

>>543695

My guns get cleaned, parts get replaced. A cosmetic change doesn’t shorten a Glock 19’s lifespan.

cf81be No.543701

>>543700

Giant gashes in the polymer are a bit more than "cosmetic changes" you ask me. And if at some point you find yourself displeased with shoddy cuts in your gun, there's not much you can do about it.

f95930 No.543702

>>543701

I didn’t ask. If I get tired of them, I suck it up. Maybe rotate it out for one of my others and it becomes a range gun only until I fancy it again. I had the good fortune of carrying an identical pistol for six months before deciding to have mine sent in for the work, so if suddenly I dislike it, I can tell myself “Hey, dipshit, you knew what you were getting into. Deal with it.”

I generally HATE the look of stippling, but I actually really like this pattern.

Also, I just came across this nice piece of gun porn.

79303d No.543705

I don't get the idea of this. I know people do (and I probably will someday) add grip to their ak of ar pistol grips. But the frame of a glock? Isn't it the serialized part, would it have a negative effect in the long run like it becomes weakened and cracks, what if you fuck up? Speaking of which say your nfa reciever or your favorite pistol frame breaks, does that mean the gun is completely dead and you can't repair it as it will require a new serialized part?

f95930 No.543706

>>543705

>would it have a negative effect in the long run

Sure, if you bubba it up and go ham on the thing with no regard to how shallow you’re working.

718636 No.543707

>>543705

IIRC the slide is the serialized part on glocks and most other handguns

f95930 No.543710

>>543707

Frame is serialized as well. You can have replacement slides shipped to your door. I don't believe the same can be said for frames.

Soldering irons are for solder and occasionally melting wire/plastic that's snapped off. Why the fuck would you take it to your gun, you lazy cunt? That gun is a tool, it should be treated with respect.

I remember watching a video where the guy used a segment of inner tube from a bike wheel and sanded down the edges.

4e3308 No.543828

Think I'm gonna try stippling my G17 if I don't like how grip tape feels/works. I have a few sections of bike innertube placed a bit below the trigger. It fits right in my palm where I want and gives my left hand another index point. Might build up the grip there to get a similar effect. Got big hands/long fingers so I don't mind adding a bit of width. Anyone think I could rely on the grip tape sticking to itself or should I go with a band over the taped pistolgrip?

Would love to try a G17 with an undercut on the trigger guard, but I'm not gonna do it on mine unless it points like my finger because of said cut.

Well for the pistol frame, you just go and buy a new pistol frame or make a new one if there's 80% frames for that model. You could also repair it. As for an NFA receiver, I'm pretty sure you can repair it or take it to a gun smith, but if it's beyond repair then your shit out of luck.

>>543707

Well for glocks the slide, barrel, and frame are all serialized, but the ATF only considers the frame to be the firearm, so that's really what you should be worrying about.

>>543710

Nope, completed frames are firearms and need an FFL. Everything else however, can be sent right to your door.

By soldering iron did you mean wood burner? It looks like a wood burner that I have.
