Fallout 1 aged just fine, the only reason FO2 didn't was because of the shitty, dated pop-culture references. All you need is some patience and half an imagination. Fo3 on the other hand, has aged much worse than any of them, literally just Oblivion with a Fallout themed coat of paint and a completely awful story with weak character motivations

fallout 3 is still one of the best fps rpgs ever made (there aren't many so there isn't much competition), and saved what would have been a dead joke franchise and turned it into something akin to a real universe. if not for 3, we would have never gotten NV or 4.
most especially, after NMA's faggot ass failed attempt to boycott it just because it wasn't a carbon copy of the previous game, fallout 3 might be the most underrated game in history.

What is Deus ex, System/Bioshock, E.Y.E, and to a lesser extent STALKER.
Just because it the only one you played doesn't mean its even close to "one of the best"
The gun play is painful, the RPG mechanics are bare bones, it turns the BoS from "Technology obsessed authoritarians"
into one note Saturday morning cartoon heros that seemingly care nothing about any tech that they don't already have.
Fallout 4 is the same story, at least it doesn't shit on any pre-existing factions by creating it's own and the gun play has been upgraded from "abysmal" to "mediocre"

The time constraint is a decent point to bring up, I'd have to guess they designed that way so it didn't seem like the world completely revolved around you. Take New Vegas for instance, literally the entire Mohave postpones the Battle for Hover Dam because you had some side quests you needed to finish.

Jeep CJ or Jeep TJ is a good choice as well, and an early 90's Nissan Hardbody isn't bad either. Pre 2000's Fords work as well, provided you get a model with a relatively short wheel base.
