5.45 also have better BC then all 5.56 but MK. 262 ammo. But yes, 5.56 needs velocity so the jacket will rip/shred/fragment at the cannelure and produce most of the wounding. The german 4.85x33 would not fragment despite being 3000 fps because it has no cannelure. That's also why when developing the MK 262 the army got sierra to put a cannelure on the bullets because otherwise it wouldn't fragment.

5.45 will always be more effective at lower velocities due to the tumbling effect from the spoontip. Through barrels shorter than 16" or so, the 5.45 will always outperform the 5.56, at any range. However, keep in mind this data wasn't collected with two "equivalent" cartridges–7n6 has lower-grade powder compared to NATO cartridges. If the two cartridges being tested were completely equal, with the same casing/primer type, same powder, etc., 5.45 would appear even more viable.

Bretty gud, just be aware that you're going to have to shop around quite a bit to find alternative options. Unless you really, really, want an M4 profile barrel with chrome lining for some reason, I'd recommend getting a custom barrel from a place like McGowan barrels. This also gives you the option of buying the barrel untreated and applying nitride/melonite to it, which imo is better than chromelining for a few reasons. If you end up getting a nitride barrel I'd highly recommend a nitride BCG as well, you get the same slickness that NiB coating gives you but it won't flake off.
