inb4 blogpost

Sup, /k/. I find myself in the position of being highly interested in reading about and discussing funs, but less inclined to actually go out to the range. I was until rather recently hasguns–details on how I lost 'em not relevant. While acquiring guns, I took autistic fascination with picking the "best" one (or AR part) for what I desired, and was really excited when I finally bought the thing. But when I actually took my toys out for a range day with a /k/omrade, I didn't enjoy myself. I convinced myself that I did for a while, because I had dropped a fair amount of cash into guns, but not once did I think to myself, "man, I wish I could be at the range right now." I only went when someone else invited me, like a social obligation. Once I realized this, I started selling off my collection and am now noguns again. Yet in spite of this, I'm more than a little interested in playing armchair general, discussing weapon designs, and calling anonoymous people fags over an Asiatic throat-singing forum. The hell's wrong with me?

I suppose this post really is useless besides being a blogpost, but fuck it. Don't have any friends who can relate to this and I'm sure as hell not giving my shekels to a shrink.

Clearly it's because you have no real application for firearms. That is not true for most of us, myself included due to being in an urban hellhole with a shortage on cops and those armed similar to me.

Though, more relevant to your own predicament is that I used to be big on milsurp and wanted to start a collection. But now I can't stand looking at the things. I sold my first rifle, my 91/30, because I just didn't want it anymore. It was taking up space, and my M44 was clearly the better rifle. I can't see myself putting money towards any kind of milsurp anymore after realizing how subpar in quality they are to modern arms.

Shit sucks, man. The more you know, the less you want to be part of it.

>He can buy a fucking AR or whatever else he wants without wasting half a decade on struggling to acquire obscure licences and gun club participations that will most likely only earn him a pistol license at most

>He buys a special snowflake uber-deluxe custom AR

>Fires it once

>Is bored of it

<The hell's wrong with me?

YOU'RE A FAGGOT OP YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW LUCKY YOU ARE AND YET YOU FUCK IT UP HOLY SHIT JUST GO OUT THERE BUY FUNS AND SHOOT SOME SHIT UP, SHOOT EXTRA ROUNDS FOR ME BECAUSE UNLIKE YOU YOU SPOILED FUCKING BRAT I CAN'T EVEN FUCKING BUY A PISTOL UNLESS I FUCKING STRUGGLE FOR YEARS IN WORTHLESS UTTERLY BORING REPETITIVE HORRIBLE MUH GUN CLUB COMPETITIONS WHERE YOU SHOOT WITH SHITTY AIRSHIT AT PLATES 50 YARDS DOWNGRANGE AND THEN I PROBABLY WON'T EVEN BE GIVEN THE LICENSE BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT IS COMMUNIST AND THEY DON'T WANT CITIZENS TO BE ARMED

You might just not like guns, and that's okay. Not everyone has to like them. Although, I'd wonder if just going to the range is cool for you. There are other sports you can get involved in that are fun, or you might want to get into design or other such things. If you're a real geardo, the stuff around the gun might interest you more. Personally, I find myself shooting my handgun more than my rifles, and shooting my air rifle the most because it's so cheap. Don't worry if you don't like guns. There's nothing wrong with you, just don't be a fag and get on the gun grabber side.

You're terminally retarded. I don't enjoy using fire extinguishers or first aid kits but I don't sell them idiot.

I can relate in a way. I'm not very big on guns myself. The only gun I have is a mosin nagant because I just wanted something and they were cheap at the time and less of a meme. I had a handgun at one point but that's gone and I need to get a new one.

What I am interested in is explosives, which is highly neglected on /k/. I haven't seen many home chemistry threads or just pdfs on bombs in general outside of the Dokument which is a shame because, at least where I'm from, the ATF is really cool about high explosives so long as you give them the proper applications. You can obtain and use any bomb on your private property simply by giving directions from the nearest post office to the location of the chemicals.

Maybe you just enjoy the military aspect of it, or watching cool guns in action. Like people that like cars, not everybody is a multi-billionare arabian racer and doesn't need to be to appreciate them.

So I'm gonna agree with this anon

The good news is soon you can sell your Mosin for collector cash and get something nice.

>>540764

Do not worry OP. I have a pretty large collection and now a large piece of property with a range on it and I find I rarely shoot. I still enjoy my guns from time to time but I do not find it as fun going to my old indoor range and mag dumping with a slidefire around the other shooters.

First aid kit doesn't do you much good if you're required to keep it locked away in another building and must check it out in advance.

It's served pretty well in that it seems sturdy so I'll likely never get rid of it unless they start selling like tommy guns. Just no reason to and there's quicker ways to make money for another gun if I want one.

My only regret is that sawn off shotguns are not legal without ridiculous paperwork I don't want to do, despite how fun they seem to fuck around with and how good they'd likely be for home defense.

I do have a sawn off shotgun, but it's from the 40s and there's no fixing it without ruining the original product. Something my grandad made in WW1 or something.

Check out a Mares leg. Just stay away from Chiappa. Their mares leg shotgun might not be shit, I do not know. but everything else I have from them is shit.

bc6305 No.540819

You don't value the capability to defend yourself. This is what's wrong with you.

Because from what I'm reading, you sold *all* of your guns because you had a declining interest in amassing an arsenal. This would be fine if you retained one or two. Leaving yourself toothless however, is a fucking disgrace.

At the very least, get a fucking double barrel from a pawn shop.

5aabe2 No.540825

>>540816

I like the mares' leg a lot but they're in the 1,000 range on every website I visit. Maybe I'll check local shops since it seems what I'm looking for but, might as well get a replacement handgun for the same dosh.

>>540819

I doubt he sold all his guns, maybe he just means like the rifles and has a handgun or something but doesn't use it? I barely use my mosin and I have private land so it's understandable he might not bring it up.

5aabe2 No.540827

>>540819

Sage for addendum but he might also just have a level of danger that doesn't require a gun, like a suburban neighborhood of high class or a really nice city. You can beat back an intruder with a table leg if you're dedicated enough, maybe he has a greatsword or a heavy rock by his bed? Wouldn't be my choice of weapon, still prefer a gun, but I never felt the NEED for one when I lived in a good area it was just worth having for a number of reasons.

I did keep one of my funs in long term storage back home, but there's no practical way for me to own/carry in uni. Area I'm in is pretty safe too at the moment.

After my third range session I was thinking just like OP "do I actually like shooting". I pretty much forced my self to try 2 more times but my marksmanship was getting better, enough that I could hit the steel targets at about 100 yards making it more fun as all my previous sessions were just shooting boring ass paper with an AR at about 25-50 yards. I don't know what op was shooting but once I started hitting the steel targets I foundy self actually having fun.

Which is why I then bought a 22lr conversion kit for my AR and blasted like a retard with rapid fire, hearing the gong ring multiple times kept increasing the fun. I'd suggest getting a 22lr and buy fun targets like the kind that bounce or spin basically bring a shooting gallery in your bag and start from there. Boring targets with no feedback until you walk up to it when the range is cold (if you go to public ranges) will suck the fun out of shooting like a jewess sucking money out by crawling at ass level in a crowd of people with wallets.

I notice /k/ likes to focus on the guns themselves but I think new fag guide on targets and fun shit would be great. Like building your own holders or common house hold items you can use to make reactive targets like flour in a can or asprin pills glued on to targets. I'm sure there's others I haven't even thought of.

First, OP is always a fag. Second, I enjoy range shooting, but can live with going once a year, if even. What I REALLY love is being innawoods, innadesert, or anywhere with my funs where I'm immersed in nature. Fucking opium.

dae3d4 No.540935

>>540764

I've got a similar sort of feeling. I like to shoot, but I prefer to feel the guns, honestly. The mechanics of them is what I like. I love cleaning, too.

Don't sell your funs, anon. They're nice to fiddle with and look at, I say.

+1 except for me it's urban exploration or just solitary handwork. Nothing better than a little alone time.

I shoot logs.

pros:

>smaller than man, if you can hit log you can shoot man

>splinters when you shoot it

>naturally camouflaged

>costs nothing just find a log

>done shooting? you just made kindling for a campfire

cons:

>you're shooting a log

>only provides practice for accuracy, not precision

>i'm actually just too lazy to make my own targets with a marker and i don't own a printer

That's solid. I live in Tampa, so I can't do much more than CW while urbex (absolutely necessary).

Just view it as a duty/obligation so you don't get buttfucked by commies. That's what I do. Do I like guns? Only manual bolt actions. But do I train with regular semi-autos, hell yes.

If he likes operator shit, maybe OP might be down for ham radio fagging instead? When shit hits the fan I'd love to have more hamfags to network with and get a small society running. Emergency services like ARES and RACES have been an incredible help in disaster, moreso than guns would be since information is key in war.

36a0b2 No.541125

Yeah engineering (mechanical/chemical)/medical/comms is the most important. You can't fight a war without bullets, food, communication, or medicine.

>TFW that's why I'm trying to become a doctor Or preferably a biochemist so I can make medications

5aabe2 No.541128

>>541125

I got a lot of storage space and dosh so I tend to be like a librarian of sorts.

I studied ham radio and feel fairly comfortable, memorized the general license guide just about so figure I can use one and I might take the test soon. I pass the practice ones.

Got into guns, not good enough to build/design a modern one of my own but good enough to fix damage and make modifications.

Used to be in college for bioscience so chemicals are my forte, demolition is my current trade of the month. It's a fun read and since all you have to do is memorize a few safety things, how they work, and what chemicals you can/can't use/where to get them it's a quick thing to pick up in a general knowledge way.

Don't know shit beyond basic first aid.

Cars I can finaggle together outside deep engine work and computers I've got down like the back of my hand. CompTia certified baby.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

But better than a master of one.

I don't know what to learn next tbh, might do medical inbetween finishing my second language

36a0b2 No.541134

>>541128

Depends on what you can do in a SHTF scenario. Probably wont be able to do much with modern medicine. I mean, I guess you could learn how to amputate, stuture, etc.

I'd rather be a master of three than none. It depends on what your up against. I'm a physics major so haha, you can learn pretty much anything science related with that

5aabe2 No.541140

>>541134

I've learned that pretty much if you master one type of ' technology you've mastered them all.

HAM radio is basic electrician work mixed with radio transmission. TV is radio transmission, as is the internet, they're just sent through different levels of encryption. It goes on and on. Guns are explosives that go in one direction, etc.

That said, there is a lot of pointless info. I've learned that when I read on my own and do my own studying I finish things in a quarter of the time required because I'm not dragged down by the pacing of a school. A lot of the old masters who write books like PU luty (think that's how you spell his name?) will cut the bullshit and just tell you what you need to know. You don't need to know everything about guns to understand how to modify the more common ones and from there trial and error works great.

Medicine I couldn't tell you on though, I'm sure that's hard as fucking balls and nothing compared to expertise in machinery.

36a0b2 No.541153

>>541140

AFAIK with my medicine related grandparrents they tell me that med is part skill, part intuition, and part practice.
