I don't think there is much of a possibility of this happening. There is no reason to put significant boots on the ground because wars are no longer fought for territory, but ideology. America's "police actions" in foreign countries are basically re-conquering territory, but there is no reason for this to ever happen in defense of America. The only countries who might try this shit are little ones like the DPRK and then it's a matter of swatting them like flies with our superior military technology. For the larger and more powerful countries, they recognize the same irrelevance of such actions; and for simply matters of geography, America is nearly impossible to "invade" in the first place.
