I was curious what /k/ uses for a range bag. I've been using a dreadful old gym bag from highschool for years and I am looking to upgrade to something worthwhile.

earpro is for pussies, you dont need ammo if you research laser weapons and then manufacture any of them, your targets should be the enemy aliens, and store the other bits and baubles on your belt or on your legs or in your backpack tbh

I use a regular duffel bag like you find being used as carry on luggage or gym bag. Most of the MODULAR RANGE BAGS™ I see are nothing more than a duffel bag with molle slapped all over priced by $50. If you want to carry more shit than a duffel bag without it sagging then just get one of those folding wire carts that you see old ladies using when they get on the bus to the store. If you're too pussy to ignore the

faggots walking like they need to shit then pay the premium and buy a roller tool box.

Are you using a hard case for your rifle?

I use a pretty standard soft-case (that kind like pic related , though price has gone up quite a bit since I got mine. Anyone know what the original everyone is copying was and how it got so prolific?) and mine has plenty of space for ammo if it's in mags (loose ammo goes in an ammo can), at least 4 handguns (more depending on size), targets, mag loaders and virtually everything I want it to hold. I never put ear pro in the bag because I need it before I get to the range because of other shooters and digging through your gun bag before getting to the range is bad. A package of foam earplugs fits in my pocket and my headphones easily stay in the cabin or around my neck.

d40731 No.535397

That all fits in my rifle case, famalam. I even have a spotting scope there. These range bags are a gimmick.

I bought a cheap luggage bag to store my chrony, sandbags, ear/eyepro, food and water, targets and tools. Ammo gets thrown in a dedicated ammo can, and the rifle gets it's own bag. Obviously this means it geta complicated when I want more than one rifle, but I try to only practice with one or two rifles per trip though I brought the whole fucking lot last time because I went mad reloading and needed to test it all

This. I'm the faggot with his earpro around his neck, his earbuds/glasses inside his softshell case, and a box of ammo in the other hand. Sometimes I even strap the rifle case to my back so I can balance a box of bulk ammo on top of my ammo box.

Then again I try to go shooting innawoods instead of at a range when I can get away with it. Public gyms have permanently ruined my trust in other individuals to be safe with ANYTHING in their hands.

Im using a Soft case for my rifle, but it is pretty barebones and I can only carry the actual gun in it, no ammunition.

I use a shitty hard case for my handgun and its so small i can only fit one extra magazine in there with it.

My shotgun is in a glorified sock that is tied off at one end, and has no place for anything resembling storage.

This is why i use a gym bag to transport everything else i need for shooting. If i am throwing clays, for example, I have my hands full with the shotgun and the thrower, while my bag is full of the clay box and the boxes of shotgun shells.

Rifle/Handgun range shooting tends to have the bag filled with 9mm and 7.62, paper targets, and anything else i might need.

Not to mention, i store most my ammo and accessories in my bag when off the range.

I shoot at a DNR range because its the only free range available to me, and i don't have the land to make my own or the money on had to afford a gun club membership and shoot. If i try to take more than one trip for setup, i'm likely to have my spot in line stolen or the bench plucked out from under me.

The range officer is usually just setting in his car (No actual building for him to be in, its a pretty barebones range) and doesn't do shit to stop that kind of stuff, so I've learned to cope and be able to carry everything at once.

>soft rifle case

they're good - I never got too into them for range use but I could see the appeal to having everything in one place for bug out or easy range travel. I sling my rifle over my shoulder when it isn't wrapped in a clean towel for transport.

>gym bag […] clays, thrower, ammo, accessories at DNR

Old gym bags are nice but they lack structural integrity to hold up any long hikes or loads of abuse. If you work with your hands (or know someone who does, plumber, electrician carpenter) or have a spare $40: get a tool bag with a zip top (make sure can fit small lock if you go that route) and a metal frame. I go hiking out to my buddies cabin for funs, beer, and various work. Lately I've been bringing two tool bags - one with my actual tools and one with fun stuff.

I can fit my trooper, spare 4 mags for my sport 15 (exterior slots are almost made to be used as mag pouch), ammo can with strippers, a speed loader, tape and targets with room to spare. Plus I can sling them both over my back and carry rifle in it's case with free hand.

To reiterate: tool bag with metal frame. Will meet all your needs and some you didn't know you had (distance carrying)

>second pic

I use the almost-identical offering from Ridgid (the "Pro Organizer") for my entire handgun and ammo collection, with my "range box" being the small, topmost box. It's loaded with about 1000 rounds in various calibers, plus cleaning tools, a few spare mags, and little things like handgun grip extensions, ear plugs, etc.

I also have a Yukon Outfitters "Tactical Range Bag" that I got for pretty cheap on a deal website, but I treat that as more of a wilderness/bugout bag that just happens to have a bunch of gun stuff in it.

Not a bad idea at all.

I once saw a guy who brought a rolling cooler (like pic related) to the range. He had some sort of cage-like material lining the inside walls and somehow had his guns attached to them. I didn't get a good look, but it was pretty neat.

Makes me want to carry around a massive arsenal in a guitar case and cooler, looking like some hipster on his way to the beach.

I've got one of those generic GPS brand backpacks that every gun store sells. It's got enough space for mags, ammo, ear and eye pro and a few pistols. I like it. It's got zippered pouches for everything and even came with a little cup inside to put bullets in when you're loading mags.
