What the fuck /pol/. This shit needs discussed. Constantly. Shall not be infringed motherfuckers.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/38/text < THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE NIGGERS

Now the link alone is a wet dream. It could be the first major federal move in favor of the 2nd amendment since 1934. This would force states to recognize carry permits and treat them like drivers licenses no matter what. The problem is this:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4477/text

Now you ask, why is this a problem? It's because of pic related. Kikestein and Cucker managed to combine them and voted to pass it in committee. It still needs to pass senate, and go to reconciliation, but it is - for obvious reasons - a major problem. I'm sure once the full text is available it will give anyone reading it cancer, but just reading pic related is bad enough.

So here's what we should do about it. Spam everything. Everyone. In the next post I will have a nice little template detailing to the rep you choose to send it to (feel free to modify it as you want/need, or to just ignore it enitrely. I'm not your mother. I don't make you do shit.) telling them to not allow the amended reciprocity act to pass. It is cancer.

Dear Honorable [representative],

I am writing you today to urge you to not pass H.R. 38 (The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017). In it's original form it was a move that further enshrined the federal govnerments observance of our right to keep and bear arms as outlined in the 2nd Amdendment in the United States Constitution.

However, it has come to my attention that it has been combined with H.R. 4477 (Fix NICS Act of 2017). This act on its own does nothing to safeguard Americans, and only serves to infringe on our rights as outlined in the 2nd Amdendment and the 4th Amendment. It is extremely over-reaching and would put millions of American Citizens on a list that would not allow them to legally acquire arms, infringing on thier rights to keep and bear them. Furthermore, it would accomplish this by putting them on a list for reasons that are poorly defined, and very open to being abused by persons and/or agencies that may be either neglectful and/or abusive.

Combining these acts would accomplish reciprocity but at a price that puts the civil liberties of every law abiding American at risk. This act needs to either be modified so that only the reciprocity remains, or stopped entirely for the time being.

Thank you for your time.

We already have a thread. It's not as big or as sneaky as you'd think - the worst part about Fix NICS it is that you might get a block on purchases if you have an outstanding bench warrant (like a traffic ticket), and only niggers don't pay their traffic tickets. You're not a nigger, are you?

Nationwide concealed carry reciprocity is absolutely well-worth the tradeoff. NICS needs work anyway, and we really don't want unstable faggots to own guns.

I personally can't wait to see the asspain in Jew York when this passes and out-of-staters can walk around CCing.

Dear Honorable [representative],

I am writing you today to urge you to not pass H.R. 38 (The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017) in its current form. In its original form the bill was a move that further enshrined the federal government's observance of our right to keep and bear arms as outlined in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

However, it has come to my attention that it has been combined with H.R. 4477 (Fix NICS Act of 2017). H.R. 4477 is extremely overreaching and would put millions of American Citizens on a list that would prevent them from legally acquiring arms without proper legal due process. Furthermore, this list is very open to potential abuse due to the criteria for addition being poorly defined and open to interpretation.

Combining these acts would accomplish reciprocity but at a price that puts the civil liberties of every law abiding American at risk. H.R. 38 should be separated from H.R. 4477 before coming to a vote so that Americans may exercise their right as the Constitution intended, without allowing a potentially dangerous bill to pass by underhanded means.

1: Genuinely want NICS expansion

2 will still fail utterly if enough republicucks vote for it.

0d6e6c No.534384

>>534379

From what i understand, your current national check system is used to prevent certain people from having access to firearms WITH OR WITHOUT a court decision to make such a denial lawful and constitutional. The fix-NICS act would increase the dataset by which these checks are made.

The crux of the point i think is as follows:

-The current and potential future checking system grants no benefits to those being checked but causes them to take the risk of being denied unlawfully.

-an expansion of the dataset for this checking, while potentially denying more "bad guys" would inevitably and unavoidably result in more lawful citizens having their rights abridged.

That is my understanding of the situation, but im foreign.

464b3a No.534385

>The attempts to “fix NICS” will at best be redundant, and at worse make the system more problematic. Consider that the descriptions of H.R. 4434 and S. 2135 assert the bills are “to enforce current law regarding the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.” If more names are added to the NICS records, then the number of false positive denials will actually rise.

It seems that people are mad at NICS exists in the first place but I would rather NICS be handled later and get my CC reciprocity now.

fa2d2b No.534387

>>534384

Ya that's really the best way to put it. What is really bad about this one is the expansion of the data set to include WAY more people. There is no real mechanisms for clearing yourself off the system if you take care of the issue that is conflicting with NICS. In addition to many little things that permanently strip you of your rights.

Needless to say in the future this could be abused by political actors, but on a more basic level that there is a provision that federal agencies that submit more names will get MORE MONEY. So all essentially %100 insulated politically with little oversight bureaucracies now have an incentive to submit as many names as possible to NICS. No one should have to tell you why that is a terrible idea. Fuck the NRA

1ae0b1 No.534400

GoA raised a disturbing point. This may be for the best because the bill poisoning may actually work the other way. They say that "Fix NICS" could probably pass the House and Senate by itself, but reciprocity can only pass in the House right now. So attaching reciprocity to "Fix NICS" may be the only way to kill the NICS expansion.

https://www.gunowners.org/alert12062017.htm

> So, the two provisions (both good and bad) have now been joined together in H.R. 38. The House is scheduled to vote on the combined bill today.

> Gun owners will assuredly want to know: What happens next? Well, if the House does pass Fix NICS with reciprocity, then the Senate will most likely kill the background check language because, as we stated above, leading Republicans and Democrats do NOT want the bills combined.

> As recently as yesterday, Senator Chris Murphy said that such a combined bill would be dead on arrival in the Senate. Of course, the Senate could attempt to strip the reciprocity portion of the bill and send only gun control back to the House. But having just passed reciprocity, the tables would be turned and a vote to pass Fix NICS as a stand-alone bill in the House at that point would be considered a vote to kill reciprocity – putting our side in a much stronger position to vote it down.

> What happens if the House defeats the combined bill? If Senator Cornyn has his way, the Senate will quickly try to send a Fix NICS-only bill to the House.
