>Be Me

>Be Poorfag in college and have AK and just keep slav issue 8m3 rounds to ventilate jamal and Jorge if they bust into my shit

>Graduate and get job selling insurance

>Talk to faggots on Primary and Secondary and get a Midlength BCM Upper

>TFW I have never zeroed a scope and now I got to zero a red dot and I have no idea what the fuck ammo to use

So what do you faggots keep in your ARs for home defense? Is wolf gold good enough, I hear its taiwanese m193 and was used overseas and it fragments most of the time like the dickens and if I have to shoot a motherfucker in civilian defense its prob gonna be at close range and Im going to fire multiple rounds

Or am I retarded and I should get some fancy ass botique rounds or just run .223 softpoints like my great uncle did in his schweet ass Ruger AC-556 underfolder back in the 80s?

I recommend Hornady TAP 55 grain.

Remember that no matter which ammo you choose it's the shot placement that will solve the problem.

Zipper drill is imho the best one you can practice. It's like a Mozambique drill on steroids but without its lethal reputation. Shoot center mass and then keep going up the spine. When questioned (after consulting with lawyer of course) blame it on your sissy recoil management.

They talk about starting at the pelvis but at close range try to start at the heart.

See I actually looked at that, 55 grain Urban TAP since it didnt seem to overpenetrate and its Hornady

But looking at tests it seems to just come apart and not really penetrate.

I mean with a rifle and with 30 in the magazine and functionally no recoil Im sure even if a round breaks up on a guys rib some fragments are going places and there is still hydrostaic shock though

Anyone have any info on what these rounds do when contacting skin and bone?

That's the part that kills them. Most people going to break into your house won't be wearing body armor.

For M855, the Korean PMC stuff seems decent, and most of the Hornady loadings with their plastic tip things teem to perform well from what I've seen

Hornady Tap and Speer Gold Dot are the standard for 5.56 defensive ammo. TAP will likely be replaced with Critical Defense for rifles once Hornady releases it (seems the difference is comparable to critical defense and critical duty, Duty/TAP is for police and better at going through thin barriers and better against humans taking cover, while Defense is not and better for not overpenetrating).

That Doctor Gary Roberts data I see point to says Federal's Trophy Bonded Bear Claw is pretty good at man stopping. It looks like Federal's newer (post-dates Dr. Roberts analysis of ammo) Fusion MSR is even better (especially out of 16 inch barrel).

As for zeroing, it's best to do it simultaneously with your reliability testing with the ammo you'll be using defensively. I wouldn't use Wolf Gold in defensive situation, but it's a good practice round (I prefer American Eagle 5.56, which is about the same price and sometimes lower) and you can zero your red dot to it if you're not going to be shooting beyond 50 yards with your defensive ammo anyways (unless you get up on your roof during a riot).

Just get whatever is cheapest and practice a lot. It doesn't really matter what kind of holes you put into a target.

What does matter is that you actually put holes into the target, and not the wall next to it.

>What does matter is that you actually put holes into the target, and not the wall next to it.

Which is why ammo selection is important. So that in case OP does hit the wall the possibility of someone else than dindu being shot is minimized
