/k/ im going to the recruiter for the army in less than an hour, is there anything i should know before i go. my life absolutely lacks purpose and there are no opportunities in bumble fuck west virginia. i really feel like this is something my life needs

He'll tell you a bunch of bullshit. Learn as much as you can about the jobs you're interested and try to keep contact with the recruiter to a minimum. They are guaranteed to lose paperwork so expect that. Don't seem desperate, trying to run away from home etc, as they don't like that. They turn you away here if you seem desperate. Worst case scenario is they push you into a shitty job since they think you'll take anything.
This is for Australia, so it may or may not apply.

If you expect the military to give you purpose you're completely fucked. If you don't know exactly what you want to do you have zero business talking to a recruiter. It's not all that easy to get in right now, random people bored with their life with no appreciable skill set aren't likely to be selected for anything worthwhile, so if you even manage to get in you'll be enjoying some nigger tier MOS, like supply or food service.

Think of it as a non-pozzed colledge education that pay,and gives you job experience.

DO NOT sign any contract or document unless it has exactly what you want in it. if you want airborne, demand airborne. if you want option 40 demand it and don't sign until they give it to you. if they say they don't have what you want, walk out and tell them to call you when they do. after a couple of days to a week you'll get a call that they magically found one for you.
Don't let them intimidate you over anything. recruiters are lying scum.
