Alright /k/. I need a semi-automatic rifle that I can hunt/use in a SHTF scenario.
My budget is $300 dollars to 450
usually I would think ar-15 but I need to hunt as I am very poor and need to save money on meat, I've also never been hunting so hopefully it is a powerful round.
please help as am only a small drive from a Somali overridden town in Tennessee and many people fear a warzone will be here soon

Cheap and busted AK or an SKS - it's about as effective as a .30-30 without working the action.
Either that or build your own AR-15 with a 20" barrel, scrounge up pennies for a halfway decent optic, and make your shots count.

OP you can hunt with an AR-15 just fine with a 20" barrel, though not large game. Hog and deer and other similar and smaller with 5.56 is no problem.

Or build a PSA AR-15, complete upper and lower. Complete 20" upper w bch and bcg is $260 and $150 for a lower right now on PSA.
SKS is a shitty rifle and overpriced. Do not buy. AK's are also overpriced now, but not inherently dogshit like the SKS.

I would suggest a 12 gauge shotgun in case since it's pretty cheap. And as for hunting a .22 rifle since lot's of animals can be taken down with it and the ammo and rifle is pretty cheap.

A good combo deal shotgun (mossberg security and slug or field barrel) goes a long way for the money. Even more so since it's already a gun that can do pretty much everything people buy a gun for (hunting, fun, defense, clay shooting, varmint genocide) with the only downside side being that ammo is kind of pricey probably good to buy that 50 dollar shotshell loader to make slugs on the cheap. With that said you should just save your shekles, you really aren't far from decent semi-auto funs in big boy calibers that aren't cut corners bargain bin shit save for the 2 or so prebuilt ones that aren't complete shit

fucking why? I could sort of understand using an AR-15 since the collapsible stock means you can stow it but for fucks sake, just use a handgun. It doesn't even need to be a compact, you could keep a full size revolver next to the bed and it'd work better. For shotguns I use a stevens 520 I had the barrel cut down on legally you fucks, loaded with bird and 03 buck with a slug at the end. It works but if there's a nigger rummaging through my house i'll just grab my bulldog. A handgun in a home defense scenario is a lot more realistic than going to war with jamal the TV thief.
the dude said he wanted a hunting rifle, CETMEs make good hunting rifles since there aren't any jurisdictions where .308 is banned. It's a powerful cartridge for game, it's accurate, and the recoil is manageable. Best of all, if you make it yourself you don't have to worry about the CIAniggers keeping tabs on you.
Shotguns are a bitch to hunt with for anything other than bird hunting. Buckshot will kick you around, shotgun shells are clumsy to load and take up a lot of space in a bag, and it takes a lot of practice to get reliable hits. The first month of shooting will be highlighted with bruised shoulders and misery. Most people will do something dumb like buy a short length shotgun and get it in 3 inch mags because they don't realize 12 gauge comes in different varieties. I know it sounds like i'm being a bitch but if you've never shot before and you're trying to get into it, a shotgun is quite possibly the worst gun to go with.

You can get a pump shotgun IIRC for 300 burgers- you can blast shitheads with buck and bowl deer over, and blast shitheads up to 200 yards with a slug and rifled choke.
If all you have is a pump/lever shotgun, you are still well armed.

9mm is a decent enough cartridge for carrying. When you need something with higher capacity that's the way to go. It's also dirt fucking cheap so you can spend a lot of time practicing. Of course a .45 auto is a far better carry option, that stopping power really comes in handy and it's also very cheap. I carry .44spl myself though, I don't need to worry about ammo capacity, I just need one good hit.

Yeah, the only problem is this picture doesn't provide an accurate picture of how that would effect someone. Call me crazy but if you had a 3 inch cavity followed by a hunk of metal going a foot through your gut you wouldn't be alive. You don't need to lug around a full sized rifle to stop a marauding nigger trying to steal your shit. .45 auto will do it, just double tap center mass. If they don't keel over do it again, fire for effect. With something like .357 it shouldn't take more than two shots center mass. And with .44spl, especially with high quality hollowpoints, it only takes one. Get some .45 auto hyrdashocks and turn people into hamburger.

SKS is a fucking awful option for what you want, if you have absolutely nothing better to go with it could work but that's about it. If you have absolutely no scratch and just need a gun, get a hi-point carbine in .40 S&W. Do not pay more than 200 dollars for it. I know hi-point has a reputation but they work, they're just butt fucking ugly and feel like shit in the hand.
If you don't mind hunting around you can find zastavas in used shops for around 400 bucks. Pawnshops carry all sorts of shit, you just have to look. Not all .22 is the same, something in .22 mag is surprisingly effective.

It's a pain in the ass to put a paddle release on a G3 bc it costs a lot. G3 parts are expensive
Right now you can build a PSA are with a 20" barrel for $400. You buy the complete upper with the CH and BCG for $270 and the classic lower for $130.
Putting the upper and lower together is very easy. You literally just pop two pins half way out the lower, align them with the front and rear holes on the upper, pop the pins back in through those holes, and you have a rifle.
G3 is great but for sheer economy of scale I suggest doing that $400 PSA build. Here's the links
