Sg550 is long stroke piston (AK, Garand) while AK5 is short stroke piston (HK416, G36..).

Long stroke is heavier but more reliable.

Short stroke is the new hot bitch, every new guns use short stroke.

They're a pain in the arse when you're trying to put them in/take them out of mag pouches. Not only are the mags wider than standard STANAGs so you can't carry as many, the hooks and buttons just get caught up on fucking everything and you end up ripping your entire pouch out if you go to pull a mag out. Same with G36 mags
