Not impossible but those are some assraping meal requirements. The only thing off the top of my head that can fit that budget is some of the really cheap 72-hour emergency rations.

Story?

53a2ee No.512050

>>511733

Let's start with the difficulty levels. First thing mentioned in all is ammo amounts so we start there. Keep in mind nothing is final, everything is to be talked about.

Most of the basic chest rigs I see tend to fall into holding 5 mags, so about 150 rounds+ the mag in the rifle for 180 total. If there is going to be an ammo cap that should be it. In the case of master two mags is in my opinion a bit low, so I'm thinking Novice cap of 180, Stalker cap of 150, Veteran cap of 120, Master cap of 90. Also, the weapon rule being in the difficulty level should be removed for vet and master. Aside from as I said before, "I'm not dropping cash on slavshit just to go for master" and it blocks out the freedomers from vet and master. But that could be covered by the "/k/ judgement" mentioned in the rules. However if that is the case, then having the weapon rules in the difficulty is useless anyway.

Time and location is next, as well as being combined. Looking at points and the current difficulties, 24 hours in the minimum time expected. I have no problem with that, my problem is with the location. Especially for master. Some people may have some trouble finding abandoned military spaces near them. But something like that may be covered by the "/k/ will judge your self assessment" bit. If not, then I would suggest that master be a "Military prefered, but normal is fine."

The pounds of gear limit I am actually fine with. As stated in the rules, Weapons, ammo, and food are exempt from the limit, so this is basically toiletries, bedding, small multitools, and fire equipment.

Cooking prevention is fine. There are plenty of decent canned food that doesn't require cooking.

Food budgets should be boosted. I'm thinking 10 dollars added to each for a 30, 25, and 20 budget. If someone like me, who has a gut problem and can only eat certan foods, needs to extend the budget for their level then that should be covered by the /k/ judgement.

I'm back with more fixes. Rules and general bonus points are good(just add "or guitar" in the +5 for playing an instrument for those of us who may prefer it and exempt instruments from the gear limit)

So on to the faction challenges. Here we can keep the weapon limitations as they are part of the faction aesthetic and you can just pick to what you have, as opposed to the weapon restrictions in difficulty that would block some factions out of the higher difficulties. Also any "Must camp in an abandoned structure" rules in the faction should be removed, as such things are already covered dependent on difficulty level. Also, in the case of Loner and Scientist, what constitutes an Artifact? A piece of junk that looks like an ingame artifact? A random piece of junk, regardless of looks? We should clear that up before dealing with those rules.

Bandit: Clothes are good, shoe limitation to adidas if you're in a tracksuit "Must camp in" removed, Build fire is good. All bonus points are good, the +5 for rain seems to be there to stack with the general points. Dunno how to fit cheeki breeki in, suggestions?

Loner: Clothes good, Instrument good(You should know how to play something strelok), Liquor good, "Must camp in" removed. The way "Recognizable" is put in makes me think it's supposed to be junk that looks like one of the game artifacts. Weapon restriction ok. Time bonus ok

Military:All of this looks ok, but if the location doesn't have multiple structures then you should be able to switch that bonus in for the +10 per 24 hours. The reasoning for that is the for all factions(This rule should be added to Freedom and Scientist as well) should be fairly allowed the extra repeatable 10 points per 24 in addition to the normal repeatable points(Loner +1, Freedom +1, Scientist's +5 and +1) The reason why military has to pick one of the two however is because having the time based +10 and the Structure based +10 is too much. Pick depending on location.

Freedom:I'm going to take more time to think about them, but they need a total rework. For starters freedom are anarchists, not "Lets all get along and smoke dude, love the trees" hippies. Expect them to be able to make fires and still get a bonus for NATO, at the very least.

Duty:Removal of the "Must camp in" rule. All the rest is good, they get the +10/24 for the repeatable and some other easy to grab points.

Scientist: Any Clothes is a bit much. And since the firearm rule is pistol only its bringing to mind those full hazmat suits. But good luck getting one of those for under 500$. Still, cheap NBC suits are out there, so that's the clothing limitation. Since I'm willing to assume that finding things that resemble artifacts is hard, adding in the +10/24 is happening. everything else seems ok.

So the last things that need to be done is fixing Freedom and adding Monolith, Clear Sky, and Mercs.

Pic related was another version that went around.

So, after rereading my thoughts from 3 years ago:

>>512003

>>511729

Honestly, you shouldn't need much ammo out there - after all, it's a glorified camping trip. Unless you plan on doing target practice, 60 rounds should be plenty. It's not as hardcore as it sounds.

>>512050

Part of the goal is to allow anyone to participate. I tried to avoid the assumption that anyone would have gear beyond basic camping kit and a gun. I personally don't own a chest rig of any sort, and my raifu is an SKS so I'm juggling stripper clips instead of mags.

I like your caps, though. It'd be nice to associate weapon type with ammo limit (nobody's going to haul 90 shotgun shells for their break-action double barrel), and there's no provision for sidearm, but it works. 90 rounds total would be two AK mags, 2 Makarov mags, and 14 loose rounds of 9x18.

I understand not wanting a slavshit specification for higher difficulty. Perhaps replace that with "military weapon" - allowing everything from nuggets to ARs.

No cooking is retarded. Dunno why that was added.

Weight limit, I'd say to up it but call it "total pack weight". Drop your backpack and its contents on a scale.

>>512212

I'd like to keep "camp in/near structure" as mandatory for the entire experience. It's sorta what separates out stalker challenges from normal camping out. There's a minor element of risk to it, and it requires some effort in that you have to find a suitable location ahead of time.

Artifacts were a holdover from the google docs version. In my time doing urbex, I found some cool stuff now and then - the goal was to encourage people to look for cool stuff that was left behind when the site was abandoned. Same with documents, inspired by a letter that I once found (pic related).

Bandits: You could go absurd for the cheeki breeki bit. "Must find someone, sneak up behind them, shout CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE, and then run away without spilling spaghetti."

I'll keep compiling and streamlining later. Gonna go see the Blue Angels in a bit.

53a2ee No.512916

>>512913

The "Military weapon" specification for higher difficulty can work. It'll also lead to changes in how the higher difficulty people plan out their gear compared to lower difficulties, which I assume was the point of it originally.

If we're in agreement that no cooking is a bad idea for 48 plus hours then we can just remove that entirely.

If pack weight is going to be upped and changed to total weight, then I think the main choice is if it's bought up by 10 or 5 pounds.

It seems I worded it wrong. When I was saying "Must camp" removed what I meant was that any faction rule for must camp is removed from the faction square, because it's already covered in the difficulty levels. Stalkers are going to be camping in or near structures, but it's just redundant for it to be in both positions. Also may confuse some who see the higher difficulties saying "Must camp near" and then their chosen faction saying "must camp in"

Cool find, so artifacts are artifacts. Maybe change it to say "Artefacts affected by the zone" just to kind of seed the idea that you are looking for interesting things, not just pieces of scrap that look like game artifacts?

That's it. That's the cheeki breeki we need.

Still working on Freedom.

61413e No.512922

>>512916

Check the Google doc. It's much closer to the concept that I had in mind - the guide in the OP was made some time in 2014 when we were still tossing ideas around.

The point of difficulty was originally just to make it harder to camp, and to make firearm loadout more stalker-themed. That's why the Google docs version has specific gear restrictions. The goal was to let people mix and match across difficulty, factions, and maybe specific scenarios.

Artifacts, yes, that's correct. It's anything cool or rare that was left behind at a site. It'll be partly a judgement call, I wouldn't consider a rusty nail to be an artifact, but an old spool of soldering wire would be.

Cooking restrictions, yeah, those should be entirely removed. This was inspired by bushcraft challenges after all, and while hunting mutants for food was never part of stalker, it makes sense to include it here.

I've cleaned up part of the Google doc and improved on some things. I'll upload it when I'm home. I also added faction specific failure conditions - bandits, for example, can't let anyone else see their campsite. Military can't end the challenge with unspent ammo.

I've reworked factions to be a little more clear. Each faction now simply has requirements for weapon, clothing, food, a task you have to perform, a failure condition, and scoring bonuses.

>>512980

Scenarios don't really work with difficulty, because they have their own set requirements. They were initially a thing so that people who don't own guns (Marked One scenario) or can't do overnight trips (Tourist) could still get in on the fun. The rules would be contradictory, since Master difficulty requires 48 hours innawoods while Tourist requires no overnights. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. scenario was just me having fun with the notion of doing everything in the acronym - it's probably better without difficulty because there's so much to it.

With friends - you're supposed to average your score. I'll probably remove that, since it seems awkward, and just make it a "+10 per friend".

Southwestern end. I'm going to get some good boots before I plan anything out completely, but there are two places around the middle of the state. One is a semi abandoned quarry, possibly abandoned buildings on site. The second one is an abandoned mill. Neither are too remote though.

Now that I've spent some time innawoods I can safely say that this chart was made by someone with zero experience innawoods, seems to be completely based off of vidya

>as difficulty increases, you carry less ammunition, making a lighter load

>5 lbs of "gear"

>implying

make the higher difficulty carry more shit and travel longer, further from your car, and deeper innawoods, AKA "closer to the center of the zone"

Also where the fuck is monolith?

nigger, pack weight is a negative when it comes to going innawoods.

Join the military and see how you like carrying 120 rounds of ammo in magazines with 200 lbs of gear. Then walk into a rusted out factory and try moving around with all that gear on, while lugging around a rifle.

Super easy, right?

I was just up in Lincoln NH, Conway NH, Bethel ME, and Paris ME with my girlfriend two weeks ago. It was actually her idea to go camping (because shes more fit and outdoorsy than i am), but she had her period so i just got us an extra night at the resort. I love it up there and want to go camping innawoods, but i do worry about the bears, i go at least twice a year and always see bears (this time is the first time i didnt). I bought an SKS while i was up in Maine (im from MA so no one would sell to me besides the Kittery Trading Post, even though i quoted the exact laws verbadim, explained i own numerous ARs, explained how stores still sell SKSs, and soforth) and took her shooting my Mauser. Her first time with a rifle, she did incredibly well and i didnt even need to show her how it works probably because we met playing vidya so she knows how guns work. as a matter of fact, she shot two bullets touching two of my bullet holes (albeit me from 100m her from 33m). Im always up that way, and always looking to explore abandoned military sites, but i dont know the legality of it, or anything about it really. I wanna do a meetup&campout sometime, but with work and college it isnt so easy any more. I guess if i get one weekend off from work, i could spend a few days up there since i dont got class fridays, and thursdays i can head up around 9AM.

When i was a child my grandfather took me to a base here in MA that had (supposedly) been abandoned for decades. He was a communications guy for some nuclear thingy, and he did some wiring there i guess. We walked around for a few hours, going inside buildings and GI houses, and eventually we came to an old brick building there, it looked very run down and the chain fence was rusting, but it had brand new barbed wire, and on the roof we could just barely see solar panels, and we could hear a generator or something running. We also found a very thick chain sticking out of a dirt mound, and off to the side we could see a thick wire sticking out of the dirt, running to a tree. We look up and in the tree is an antenna! We saw all of this, and decided itd be best to leave. Thats my only experience with abandoned military bases.

Back to no one selling me shit, i actually went into one gunshop, i think it was called Top Gun, and this fat guy there told me he wouldnt even sell me a cleaning kit because he refuses to do business with anyone from MA. I asked for help with a failure to extract a stuck casing from my Mauser (i bought 760 roulds of new manufacture steelcased ammo for dirt cheap), and he told me that the gunsmithing is closed for the day. I explained all i needed was a steel cleaning rod to ram down the barrel since Krauts apparently dont think cleaning rods need to be as long as the barrel, and i asked to borrow the one from the mosin on the wall, and he said no. So i left. Dick.

Exactly what i was thinking. Minimum ammo should be three complete reloads (plus the one in your gun) for whatever weapon you bring, and this should be lowest setting. Hardest should be 8 full reloads. Additional ammo must be carried if youre a fag who follows fag laws in fag states such as 10-round-caps, then you must carry twice as many mags. Packs should go by sizes, largest&heaviest being hardest. the harder levels should need to constantly wear their pack, easiest level can carry whatever they want however often they want. The top tiers should need to carry primitive fire equipment, lower levels can bring lighters and fire fuel. Top should need to carry at least a shovel, a filled-up steel canteen (no camelpak), a large pair of binoculars, a notepad with pen and document things, no wristwatch, only keep a cellphone for emergencies not games, must build some sort of shelter (dig a body-sized ditch and bring a tarp to cover it, bring a milsurp tent (minus points for using it though), full change of clothes (and not change into them, theyre there just as weight), not allowed seasonings for their food, not allowed utencils other than their knife (which should be their rifle bayonet if possible). Of course with less gear, quality of life goes down, but not significantly enough as to where itd warrant so many extra points over having to keep /fit/ doing all this with heavier equipment. at the top difficulty, anything besides russian (or combloc) stuff should subtract points.

I also think factions should give +5 bonus points for having faction patches. Ive got Bandit patches on my chest rig, bag, BDUs, my spare russian chestrig, and im debating going to see mommy and have her sew one of my spares into my gorka. You should also get bonus points if you can speak russian, moreso if you bring a friend who can as well, and you both talk russian the entire time, both with SKSs, AKs, SVDs, SVTs, Mosins, Saigas, whatever russian or combloc made guns you want (american AKs dont count lookin at you Century RAS/C39 losers and any of these in plastic aftermarket stocks dont either mosins with archangel stocks, SKSs in archangel or tapco stocks).

+5 for a currently functioning full auto (must show video)

+1 for pre-1991 manufacture gun

+2 for pre-1963 manufacture gun

+3 for pre-1939 manufacture gun

+1 for pre-1991 sleeping bag

+2 for pre-1971 sleeping bag

+1 for milsurp tent

+2 for WWII or prewar tent

+2 during a cold winter day (highest temp of the day at or below 32°f)

+3 during (or the day of) heavy snowfall

+2 for every person you see (up to 8pts)

+3 for every group of people you scream "А НУ ЧИКИ БРИКИ И В ДАМКЕ" at

+3 for every group of people you shout "Иди нахуи, мудак, сука блять!" at

+10 if you somehow have a Groza or other russian bullpup

+10 for telnyaska under adidas under gorka under russian gear, AK/SVD/Saiga (current issue only, so no SKS or SVT), with balaclava, and with the cheapest russian vodka carried in mag pouches (you can remove one mag from your loadout for every full bottle you bring, and if there isnt room for the other mags then stick them in your bag)

Also negative points

-1 for every piece of non-slav gear brought by top tier difficulty (boots, pants, shirt, jacket, bag, chestrig, sleepingbag)

-1 for weapon-mounted light

-2 for foregrip/angled grip (unless its built into the wood furniture of your AK)

-2 for collapsible stock (under/sidefolder okay)

-3 for customized sighting (nightsights, scope)

-4 for battery operated sights (aimpoint, trijicon, and yes even poorfag holosun)

-5 for bubba'd gun

-5 for "modernized" SKS or M1A- ill admit i like the tapco T6 SKS and Sage Intl M1A EBR, but this isnt about those things

-5 for fire fuel like those condensed logs or actual oil

-5 for pre-cooking your meals, especially if you arent supposed to cook

-5 if you dont actually sleep (-2 more if its because youre afwaid and want bwankie)

-5 for keeping battery-operated lights on the whole time (and -1 for every additional light after the first)

-10 being sighted inside (except if its after you shout russian or ukranian at them, then its only -3)

-20 for destroying the structural integrity in any way

-100 for burning down the forest. Go fuck yourself too.

Play one of the retarded russian mods where every firefight involves an enemy either missing you or killing you in one shot from a thousand miles away with a Makarov using normal 9x18mm rounds while you're in an exoskeleton and behind 80 feet of concrete or Call of Chernobyl on Master where you can shoot a trenchcoat bandit with an entire mag of 5.45 at close range and do no damage while he can turn around and one-shot you in your fully upgraded exoskeleton with the same gun before he has the barrel even pointing in your direction.
