The longshot wasn't that bad in its carbine form. I think the main problem came from the early orange mag darts that were thin walled and deformed when kept in the magazine for too long. They are actually still selling longshots without the barrel extender/pistol in a new coat of paint and must have also done some modifications to the internals as I cant get my gen 1 to fire the new thicker blue and green mag darts. Seeing how well the new mag fed guns function I would believe that the new longshot carbines are also pretty good guns as well.

I do which is why it triggers me so much. A bubba had a Dutch manufactured Armalite AR10 (note how it has the 3rd hole, these came with funswitches) but wanted a scope on it, so he paid a gunsmith turn his rare and valuable rifle into that ugly piece of shit. The pic is from AR15COM and the thread is nothing but cancerous retards fawning over how cool the rifle looks.
From memory this was only a few years ago as well, after thousands of them were destroyed by the Australian government. They are very rare guns and quite valuable, mine cost me $3800NZD but its safe from bubba now.

Most gunsmiths get paid on commission, right? I understand that if you do something for a living you're not supposed to turn down work, but do these people have no sense of shame whatsoever? Gunsmithing isn't a trade you get into for the money, so why is a couple hundred bucks enough to turn the morals of seemingly anyone? Where's the one guy that says 'I can't stop you from doing what you will with your own property, but I'm not going to be the one to do it?'

I've got a Sportsman. Not a Model 999 Sportsman like the one pictured, just the regular H&R Sportsman. Easily the nicest .22 LR revolver I've ever used. No issues with ejection and accurate as all hell. The Sportsman (regular edition) doesn't have the rib over the barrel, has a different one-piece grip, and (most importantly) has a factory design flaw of the 999 fixed in it. In stock factory model 999's the doube action firing piece in the grip is made of cheap plastic that has a basically 100 percent chance of breaking if you fire it in double action more than a double digit amount of times (seriously). The Sportsman doesn't have that problem because its double action mechanism's made of steel.
Excellent gun, either way. You can get the (much more common, easier to find) model 999's DA problem fixed easy enough (last I checked ebay and Numerich have spare steel ones) but it's still a pain in the ass.
Top break .22's should be a thing more. The pressure's silly low and ejecting the casings is insanely easy. On a swing-out cylinder .22 the ejector rod can stick after you use it enough because of how fucking warped .22's get when you shoot them, making it a slight pain in the ass to get it to eject on every one I've ever used admittedly just a 617, an SP101 in .22, and some old Taurus model my grandpa had. With the Sportsman I've NEVER had that problem, ever. It ejects flawlessly 100 percent of the time no matter how shit the ammo is. Loading it is another story, .22's are dirty so you gotta kind of mash them in there sometimes when the chambers get dirty.
