Non-Muslim, here. What is the Islamic point of view on heterodoxy? Will God punish people for believing the wrong things? If one follows all his laws but believes things that contradict mainstream Islamic belief (e.g. reincarnation, non-dualism, pantheism, divinity of Christ, etc) is one committing a sin? Which is more important Orthodoxy or Orthopraxy? Are they equally important? pic not really related

>Will God punish people for believing the wrong things?
Qur'an tells us so, yes.
>is one committing a sin?
Islam is God's perfect religion. Adding to it or taking away from it is great sin.

You mean someone follows the societal laws, calls themself muslim but makes up their own religion in private. They are not muslims.

False distinction and false choice. The correct belief leads to correct action and vice versa. There is no knowledge without acting upon it and someone who refuses to act on what they already know will never attain more knowledge.

Yes absolutely, your creed is all that matters. If you believe something that goes against the quran and the prophets teachings in terms of theological creed then you are astray and your works will not be accepted.

Having a corrupt belief system will of course lead to commiting wrong actions. And if someone with the correct understanding commits sins then Allah can punish them by taking away their understanding. And some scholars have traditionally distinguished the jews as people of knowledge and no action and the christians as people of action and no knowledge.
