What's the difference between living in the west and living in occupied Palestine as an Israeli Arab? Is one situation better than the other?

Honestly, there is no difference. We live as Muslims, not as nationalities. There is more temptation in the west, but learning to resist temptation makes you stronger.

Hmm yes, I was speaking in the context of a muslim living in either place. What I was aiming at was that we always talk about the oppressed muslims living in israel under foreign occupation, but at the end of the day we are willfully relocating to western countries anyway.

I wouldn't know what it's like to live under foreign occupation. My father's family has been in the US since the 1630s and my mother's since the 1880s. I've never lived anywhere but the US.

Some folks living under oppression find a way to leave, but not everyone can do that and they shouldn't necessarily do so. I know that if an occupying force took over the US, I would stay and fight the occupiers. Not everyone is capable of that, though.

But aren't you speaking in terms of nationalities now though?

Nah, I'm just sayin' that I don't know what it's like to live under foreign occupation. If I did, I would defend my home; but that has little to do with my nationality. I wouldn't be defending the US, just my little piece of it.

Ok I see, thanks for your input. Personally I'm a second generation immigrant to the west so I'm seeing things a bit differently, and I'm curious if others have thought about the difference between living in israel and the west.
