What's your opinion on Quran alone? Like Sola Scriptura, is this something that makes sense? Since the Quran was dictated by the Angel Gabriel, how can we trust anything else?

The idea that the Quran alone is all we need to follow Islam is called Quranism. It's not a mainstream idea, and is considered wrong by most muslims.

The Quran is a lot smaller than the Bible, because the only text in the Quran is what was divinely given to Muhammad (PBUH). All the stories of events that happened during his lifetime are in the Hadith, which is the thing Quranists reject.

A christian equivalent to Quranism would be to take the Bible and strip out everything that isn't divinely given to Isa bin Maryam (AS). I'm no Bible expert but I'm sure that would include the entirety of the Old Testament, Paul's letters and everything narrated by the disciples.

If you read/listen to the Quran it tells you to follow the Sunnah. And some hadith are from God, the Hadith Qudsi. In the Hadith Qudsi the concept is given to Muhammad pbuh from Allah but the words are from Muhammad whereas in the Quran both the concept and words are from Allah.

Why would you chuck that? And why would you want to chuck other hadith unless they are weak or fabricated? No other prophet has had so much of his remarks and biography preserved. The hadith not only give direction in praxis, they allow us to fall in love with muhammad pbuh just like the companions did.

The Quran is the most authoritative text but I don't see how this translates into rejecting EVERYTHING else. I don't agree with the extreme approach taken by "quranists" that involve rejecting all the sunnah, including that which has been established in practice like the mode of prayer. It doesn't seem sound from any angle.

To reject Sunnah is to reject Qur'an. Hard to be a Quranist when you reject Qur'an.

sounds good on paper, not in practice, the sunnah and the tradition is living by the quran, lots of details are in the sira, hadith, and fiqh books are written based on these and quran as a guideline

you dont know arabic

you dont know islamic history

you dont know islamic traditions

>Since the Quran was dictated by the Angel Gabriel,

Because that revelation is not sufficient to structure and transmit Islam, you need Sunnah and other supplements, you need to understand history as well.

Every single verse of the Quran has history and context behind it. That's why tafsirs exist. And without hadith, we cannot properly confirm tafsirs. Because we cannot just interpret the words of the Quran however we want. We need to understand it just how the Prophet Muhammad(SAWS) and his closest companions, the sahabah, understood it.

Can you gurantee that the Hadith are as accurate theologically and authentically in their depiction of the Sunnah as the Quran is?

With the same 4 witness chains?

With the lack political interference during 200 years it took Bukhari to compile it?

This despite scores of conquests and political wars the Hadith are untouched as the Quran?

Quranism is philosophically sound because none of you; Not 1 of you can justify why it took a persian to assemble a book 200 years after the death of the prophet PBUH that was necessary for the Quran to be valid.

The Quran is literally telling you it is light. How can you shine light on light?

The Quran literally is telling you

>After this, in which book will they believe?

The sunnah should be followed; It was followed.

That;s why no collections (save 1 in 85AD) hadith were written during the 4 Khilafat Rashidun

Pro-Tip:

You can't and you've been mullahd and cucked.

First of all, hadith can be questioned. Hadith aren't carved in stone truth. They can be debated, examined, and studied. Once proven to be authentic, however, they become part of Islam.

>Quran is literally telling you

… to follow the Prophet. Qur'an tells us to follow the Sunnah.

To deny hadith is to deny Qur'an.

To deny Qur'an is to deny God.

>Quranism is philosophically sound

HA! No.

>save 1 in 85AD

There was a hadith collection written 500 years before the Prophet was born? WOW!

>200 years

Imam Malik was born in the first century hijri and his collection has survived. Abu Hanifa was born even earlier. No one had to wait until al Bukhari compiled his collection to engage in fiqh.

>Quranism is philosophically sound

What's sound about believing that the Prophet(saw) spoke nothing but the Quran for 23 years?

>The Quran literally is telling you

>After this, in which book will they believe?

So you don't believe a single thing that has ever been said after the Quran? Go read the verse again, it's talking about disbelievers saying that if they reject the Quran then what will they accept, ie if the Quran is not true then what is?

>That;s why no collections (save 1 in 85AD) hadith were written during the 4 Khilafat Rashidun

Not much was written at all at that point yet. A more likely explanation is that hadiths were written down as material became more accessible, whereas earlier it was an oral tradition still.
