It really is a shame the game is structured the way it is, since I could see people taking a break after the first ending and not returning to the game, thus missing out on all the balls to the wall content in that route.
I particularly liked the last scene with Pascal, and thought that the part where 9S and A2 are both fighting their last bosses at the same time and then they link up at the top of the tower was super cool.

I played them one right after the other and I'm not even sure which I prefer. Nier I'll probably remember a lot more fondly, because I really liked the character banters, and weiss was obviously a lot more fun than the pods were.
Did you do the sidequest in automata where you collect the lotus flowers? It doesn't take too long, and I'd say it's worthwhile if you haven't just for a bit of fanservice for people who've played the first.

I think Nier was a bit more "happier" throughout its game. Everything in Automata seemed full of despair. Including sidequests. Weiss is basically a 11/10 partner. The magics were a lot more fun to use.
