That reminds me, one of the more complex things I've had to do (show a sequence of fourish numbers on a 7 seg) involved a bit of planning. Involved a little bit of algebra with the logic to shrink the circuit down to a manageable level. Planned pretty well, didn't need too much debugging.

For sure. Especially when it's someone like the guy I'm referring to, where he'll generally defer to whatever I choose, and is for some reason really secret about when he's disliked something.
It started way back in 71. I've only seen a couple of the most recent ones, though. Like I said, they're unrelated, so just scan through a few synopses and see what interests you. Gaim has been my favourite, it's a ton of fun, and the story and themes are more mature (once it actually gets into its rhythm) than some of the other one's I've seen, and the currently airing one, Ex-Aid, I'm enjoying a lot too, even though it has the goofiest suit designs I've ever seen.

71? Sorry can't say I know what that means. Unless the series started in 1971. But yeah I'm aware of that. I'm sure if I watched some series would catch my interest while others didn't. I'd still like I'd miss something if I didn't at least start from the beginning though.
