I forgot that was a thing.

I had forgot about it too until I thought what would be a good example of optical fiber, but the stuff isn't that hard as long as your company has a few grand welder machine as you need to just get the fiber ends close enough and the machine precisely places them closer to weld them under a microscope, so it's an automated deal as long as you get them close enough for the microscopic clamps to grab onto.
c156f6 No.105623

This is getting complex.
Also, what are you doing?
a04387 No.105624
>>105623
I used 2 different types of optical welders in college, so it wasn't too bad, although the older one kept missing the connection and just made bubbles inside the fiber which ruined the connection.
I'm still just doing warehouse stuff, so loading and unloading pallets with occasional forklift usage.
Could be better, could be worse, although I'd rather just study and socialize.
c156f6 No.105625

Forklifts are a monotonous job and a stupendously dangerous job at that.
When's the next entrance exam?
a04387 No.105626
>>105625
It's not too bad, I used to do the CNC stuff which could actually cost you a finger if not an arm with the machinery that bend metal, also carcinogenic metals which you sometimes need to saw into shorter bits, so cancer dust from that.
They haven't released any info, but they're supposedly going to tell me whether I got in the entry exams or not during this or the next week.
c156f6 No.105627
>>105626
No set dates for these things?
Jeez, on my entrance exam they told us that you had to do it online immediately after you received your admission papers.
Course, I know nothing about Finnish college and what it takes to get inside.
I imagine communication is quite slow.

It's a bit dumb and unprofessionally handled, they're going to release the information online to people's private IDs.
And you have to visit the university on the day to sit down and take the exam with like 2-3 hours, it's practically just 4 pages of which 1 is reading comprehension, 2 pages of basic highschool algebra/trigonometry and 1 page of either chemistry about molar mass calculations and basic elements, or physics about circular motion/gravity calculations.
c156f6 No.105629

>People's Private IDs
Soo, you have to register to the school first and they give you an ID then make you show up to take an exam?
At least the content doesn't seem that bad.
Is there a practice exam?
a04387 No.105630
>>105629
Not really, it's all handled by the government, so you identify via bank account and have to log-in every now and then to see if they've put in any messages.
Nope, it's kind of a "fuck you for not coming here straight after college" deal where you must study yourself as you've forgot how to maths and other stuff that never mattered in work life.
c156f6 No.105631

What a bureaucratic nightmare.
I guess that's from keeping 70yr olds joining college and using up precious monies.

Well, once you're like 30 or something, you'll be sent to the grown-ups training where you can get engineer qualifications into like 1 year by skipping all the pointless stuff like languages etc. and just attending classes that matter at the job.
Otherwise if you begin your university studies under the age of 30, you get the whole 4-5 year deal with the dumb classes too like, ehh.. per say gender studies as you have there.
c156f6 No.105633
>>105632
I'm going to go scream in a bucket now.
I had the same idea for engineering school because it takes a stupendously long time (5-6 years) to your engineering degree and that's because you're taking classes that don't matter.
To top it off, the classes only teach you the concepts for engineering instead of analyzing instruments. Do you really have to go to Gender Studies?
a04387 No.105634
>>105633
We just have the system for the grown-ups thing as sometimes the economy isn't so balanced certain fields run out of work, and we needed a way to get more engineers out in the field that know how to handle stuff.
That being said, I think my father has engineer-level qualifications for about 5 or so on trades.
Our engineering university is a bit more hands-on stuff, since to graduate you need to present and turn in physical working projects of your own choice, or set by the school and spend like at least half a year at some company to get more credentials to pass.
I'm not sure about that, but there are a bunch of things that you can opt-in for, that really will never be of any use to you in the field anyhow.
