Yes, the game is too hard for its own good. I always try these games out before consulting a walkthrough, to see how much I can figure out. That's basically impossible to do with this game. I was very frustrated too with this game. Until i decided to use the ikarumod (it brings a cheat menu in game).

With cheat enables this game becomes incredibly good and fun to play. Also when you get rid of Eric (which is very easy to achieve with the mod, also it provides an option to force him to get instantly removed, which i don't recommend).

Unfortunately, the waiting times are still there so you must be patient until new dialogues/scenes unlock. This could take a lot of time but everything becomes more bearable with the mod as i said.

Yeah, the UI is pretty bad in Glassix, and if you play it legit it's super grindy. After I get the girls to level 2 I said fuck it and used the built in cheat. All you have to do is click on "Obedience" and it raises it up, so no more grind. You can also left click the girl's portraits to fast travel to them. Using these two things makes the game pretty fun as you imagine yourself teleporting around the world like a perverted wizard.

Ren'Py makes it easy to make VNs, but it also allows you to fall back to Python; so you can do pretty much any 2D game you can come up with (the further you're away from VN format the more you'll need to implement yourself, but the fact that you won't be starting from scratch will still be handy).

Case in point, you can have a POV dungeon crawler (I think I've seen a community-made plugin implementing that), or a JRPG like in RPGMaker (which is what you'd likely use if you wanted one though). Usually though it's used to add mini-games like card games or RPG fighting screens with unusual mechanics.

This is true, some guy made a proof of concept of it once. You can literally jam a pygame game like space invaders or whatever into renpy as long as you can do a bit of trouble shooting.

Weren't you the one defending Eric as a respectable game mechanic? My point is that you're limited to follow whatever else other people do in a limited engine, and even if you're forced to do something new, you'll do it in the limited capabilities of Ren'Py. The Eric system is nothing new, and although the implementation is completely the dev's fault, I doubt he could have done anything different to bring interesting gameplay. Ren'Py on itself isn't exactly your go to for gameplay heavy games. Also, I never really implied you should do your own engine from scratch, but if you're using Ren'Py, you might as well do a fucking VN, otherwise look for a better suited engine for whatever you plan to do.

I don't understand why some devs don't add some simple details earlier in development. Just some basic interface interaction sound and some chill music in the background. You can just google for that shit and not pay a cent but it adds a lot to the overall polish of the game. I'd complain about the poor English but I've seen much worse, don't think hiring a writer for fixing the dialogue would cost a lot though.

Ren'Py has multiple menu/history/graphics features pre-made that would be useful in most 2D games (and most engines are actually too generic for that – they're basically just code libraries which give you somewhat better tools to implement the actual game engine from scratch); and all of that is pretty stable and supports most OSes out of the box. Again, like I said before

Have you seen Unteraltenbach? Simply gameplay-wise, it has a lot of different mechanics and minigames. Have you seen Loren: The Amazon Princess or Planet Stronghold? They're proper RPGs, with party-based POV battles. Have you seen Jisei series? They're first-person detective adventures, with investigation based mechanics.

And they're all Ren'Py games.
