I'm assuming you have get lucky unlocked? (77 golden cookies).
That's mandatory for progress; mostly what you want to do is combo buffs together. Frenzy+lucky is the more consistent one but frenzy+clicking frenzy is very good.
Elder frenzy+clicking frenzy is the best thing in the game I think, outside of the dragon clicking frenzy. They also added building-specific frenzies, which stack with all others.
With the new update he also (finally) added extra mechanics with sugar lumps and building activities. You can 'upgrade' each building for a permanent +1% CPS to that type, but you should spend your first on wizard towers, your second on temples, and then pretty much everyone after on wizard towers.
The main spells you'll be using are Force the Hand of Fate, which spawns a golden cookie and Conjure Baked Goods, which gives you a half hour of your current CPS capped at 15% of your current bank
