Hi /g/uys!
i just had the strangest experience i ever had with a pc.
>booting laptop
>slow as hell
>wifi connected - no internet access
>try to reconnect wifi
>when i move the cursor, it does nothing
>a few seconds later the mouse moves where i pointed it
>everything is extermely laggy and the os doesn't seem to boot correctly
>trying to debug the problem for a few minutes
>my other laptop is totally laggy too
>my phone has no internet
>a collegue of mine is on his laptop and connected via VPN, he has no problems
>router dies off, everybody is disconnected
at this point i headed over to the router
>unplug and replug the router
>reboot pc
>everything's fine
so i was thinking of following reasons
- High CPU usage (i7 2.7GHz x 4)
>checked it, it's at 32%, a little high but ok
- High Memory usage (16Gb)
>nope, it's fine
- Virus?
>avira and kaspersky tell me everything's fine, i don't really trust them
as these main reasons don't seem to fit in my case, and i checked if my cable is plugged in, i started thinking of more unconventional reasons
maybe somebody used my laptop to DDos another machine and my provider killed off my connection because of the strange traffic?
(in that case, the internet should still be gone after rebooting the router right?)
or somebody tried to ddos my pc (no open ports as far as i know. but i got hamachi?)
do you have any idea what it could've been and how i can evaluate the problem? i don't know if it's reoccurring and in any other case i wouldn't mind until it starts happening regularly, but this was the creepiest thing that ever happened to me.
