disgusting inhuman garbage but basically an implicitly sexualised version of the future that actually lies before us.

you can already hire friends on certain websites, to come with you to parties, etc, to make a show of being social. this is the future of work. furry is in many ways a forerunner to this merger of social and financial capital.

my one hope is that the benevolent billionaire overlords of the future will as a charitable service offer suicide booths.

So why not embrace it?

This is the fastest way to normalise it; it takes advantage of desires that a small number of people already have to promote a thing that a large number of people need.

because it would come beneath both an extinction event and socialist government if we were ranking preferred alternative futures. because i should prefer any world to one where the bulk of humanity exist only to play court jester to an anointed few and because i am an outdated anomaly unprepared to embrace the final stage of the market's victory over the human spirit.

but then this is a fetish thing isn't it, really. that's all it is, even if it hits unreasonably close to the mark.

 No.80347>>80364

If "pets" are all essentially in a state of forced anonymity (and probably many will look alike, as mass-produced fursuits will not all be unique) then they'll just murder their rich "owners" and steal their valuables.

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with this; it's just a flaw in the system, ie: an unintended effect.

Pets are less dangerous than prostitutes.

Prostitutes and whoever is employing them make sure nothing is on record, and if they rob you then all you can do is tell the police their appearance and hope that a patroller on the lookout just so happens to run into them in the wide-open city. An asian prostitute in a western country is even more of an issue, the way we distinguish between western women just doesn't work for asians.

Meanwhile, pets are pretty easy to track down; people will likely have noticed you bringing it home, and if the police publish a description of it then whoever sold the suit (as it will likely be unique) can point the police to the owner of the suit even if they abandoned the suit after the crime.

Prostitutes are less dangerous to the people who hire them than vice-versa, and pets are less dangerous still.

>>80323

>where the bulk of humanity exist only to play court jester to an anointed few

Actually, this is more like a small portion playing jester for a small portion of similar size.

It's not like it suggests pets as the base class of large groups.

However, one day it'll be cheaper and better to use an AI robot instead of an actual human as a worker, which means that 99% of the population will end up living for free off of 1%. By introducing the concept of freeloading directly off of rich people early on, standards are set for behaviour

Except this would never ever happen because the rich only grudgingly tolerate the poor when they're required for labour, are they gonna share their prosperity when they don't need us and resources are running out?

 No.80390>>80394

It's not really freeloading if the rich people just own the robot factories and collect the cheques. After one generation, they're just as much a freeloader as the rest of us and they can hand over a slice of the pie or hand over a slice of their head tbh.

 No.80392>>80522

>>80387

Yes, because the government will make them. If it has to become socialist to prevent 99% of the population from immense suffering, it will.

Western governments always had preventing mass death of civilians as top priority, for two reasons:

First is that they're almost all humans at heart, most don't like being responsible for massive loss of life especially locals. Occasionally the US will elect a demagogue as president who manages to exterminate a lot of foreigners in a pointless war and is only hated in hindsight, but there's no way for even the US let alone other western countries to justify allowing almost its entire population to become starving hobos.

Second is that if the government isn't willing or able to reform the country, the military will. Western militaries are at best patriots, and at worst patriots with lower ranks being brainwashed. Either way, if the government is going to allow their country to suffer a humanitarian crisis on a never-before-seen scale, then every general will oppose the government.

Landlords just own people's homes and collect the cheques.

They're total freeloaders, and I don't hear any calls for revolution.

If I had a fursuit I would totally harass the government to impose restrictions on landlords, parliament is 10 minutes walk away and I could just go there with a sign and bother passer bys. Not without a fursuit though because I'm shy and my family doesn't like my left-wing views on land control.

The reason why robots will never be cheaper than humans in our current economic climate is because the burden of both purchasing and maintaining a robot falls onto the employer. They have to spend absurd amounts of money just to acquire the robot, before it even does anything, and then they have to pay for the resources to run it, as well as to fix it if it breaks down. Compare this to humans, who require no money to simply hire, just a wage; they also feed themselves with their own money and if they get hurt go to hospital with their own money. Given biological systems, they also self-maintain; you never have to replace their oil or bearings or hinges because they wear out.

>>80392

>Western governments always had preventing mass death of civilians as top priority

Only because the civilians are currently useful. What happens when it's just 200 million people with no jobs and no money?

>if the government isn't willing or able to reform the country, the military will

You're not in the military, so you don't understand, but for them obedience is everything. In boot camp, you don't listen to your drill instructor because he deserves respect or because his orders make sense, but because you are TOLD TO. If you don't, you won't even make private. And in order to ascend through the ranks, you have to obey harder and harder. By the time a person gets to general, they're a lapdog. So if the President tells you to fire the nukes, you fucking do it. Just look at the men they sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, all too willing to gun down civilians because they were told to. They often even ENJOYED IT. So all it would take is for the government to paint the freeloader civilians as some kind of "different", and the army would line up and pull their triggers, and with smiles on their faces.

How long do you think it would take before the country devolves into a caste system, with only the employed having rights? What about when the only way to be employed becomes joining the military? Goodbye Marx, hello Heinlein. Those civilians aren't even real people; who cares if they die? It's for the good of the country!

Human nature is inherently aggressive, selfish, and want to be at the top of the hierarchy. The “pets” won’t be “pets” for long as it’s in there self interest to steal there “owners” wealth and make it there’s. And if they aren’t given the wealth they will take it by other means.

They could go Beyond Good And Evil and genetically engineer bipedal animals instead.

After all, such animals in the game were made to colonise the solar system and provide "services" to humans, according to the lore of BGAE2.

Quite literally, we could have walking furries around the place, and they might even have some kind of lost foresight of the world that humans have forgotten about completely.

Might make life a lot more interesting if it happened.
