Liberal hippie idealistic "do what you want and ignore everyone else's demands, enjoy your art" crap doesn't cut it in the real world. No one gets popular doing their own thing, they get popular appealing to what the masses want, and doing my own thing does not pay bills. I'm sick to death of Undertale and Zootopia but selling commissions of ponies and that overrated movie pays my bills, so I do it. Something that gets no traffic doesn't sell my services and takes time away from profitable art. I hate some of this crap but I hate homelessness much more.

How often do you masturbate to old art anyway? Let's be honest the answer is probably never. Old art you've already seen is art that's lost its pizzazz, and artists keep churning out new art that's better than the old stuff, so there's not much incentive in keeping the old stuff around.

If copyrights were totally eliminated and artists could not make money, 95% of the entertainment world would vanish. Only a small handful of artists would remain. The rest would have to seek ways to make money to put food on the table.

Believe it or not but you are not entitled to have the rest of the planet entertain you.

with a site like tumblr or twitter things get nightmarishly unwieldy the further back the post your looking for is so it makes sense to purge old content rather than leave it around, but with furaffinity or DA your old posts just get pushed into the background. It's not really "messy" to keep them around in the way it would be, so the appeal of "clearing out" seems alien.
