What happens in the manga is Kasumi (she's got the bandage on her neck from her earlier attempt) )wants to double suicide with Shizuku by jumping off of the cliff.They fight, and Shizuku accidentally pushes Kasumi to her death. The shock awakens Shizuku to her medusa abilities, and creates several monsters, including a copy of Kasumi. It is a bit different from the classic trope, but I was hoping for something else altogether.

The funny thing is, Shinji actually subverts most of those tropes. He lets himself get walked on, but more out of kindness and a live-and-let-live attitude than being outright timid. He does take charge on occasion, but prefers not to because when he does shit tends to go HORRIBLY WRONG. He might be submissive to women, but he doesn't need or want them, really; he doesn't need anyone and is content to live out his life alone.

As for our fursuit-MC (or, by his admission, not the MC), it seems more that he's a complete pacifist. He'll rush into a fire or jump off a building to save someone, which isn't "pussy" behavior at all. Unfortunately, he's also in a manga where most conflicts are solved by murdering the other party, so he doesn't "fit" because his ability isn't primarily offense-oriented.
