They have every right to take down and deny access to art they have taken a dislike to. They have every right to delete personal copies and prevent it from ever going back up. They have every right to DNP their art. It's their property.

They have every right to block you for whatever reason they want. Arbitrary? Tough. Free speech? Under no court will the block function be declared a violation of the first amendment. Why? Go fucking read the first amendment. If you don't live in the US then it doesn't even apply to you. Stop using this argument because you acted like such a faggot you got blocked by someone who didn't want to put up with your shit. Someone blocks over art critique and hurt feelings? They might be an asshole but who cares? They're not the only artist online. Fuck em and don't give them attention.

They have every right to edit old artwork.

They have every right to paywall it, provided it's unique art they own. Fan art is not fully their property and in that case, making money from it is bullshit.

They have every right to their opinions. They are not obligated to think your shit fetish is great or to draw what you want for free. They can even turn down commissions if they don't like the subject matter.

If the world operating on different rules than what you want pisses you off, shoot yourself. You are not owed. Only liberal idiots think art is a right.

 No.53245

>If the world operating on different rules than what you want pisses you off, shoot yourself.

The world doesn't operate under those other rules, though. So I suggest you teach by example by shooting yourself.

We can still give them flak for it. Also, consider hanging yourself.

How about you stop fighting the nature of the internet?

If you are a regular content provider pushing out new content on a regular basis, piracy isn't going to effect you at all due to the output rate, but if you're sitting there hoarding your Art CD's from 2009 and issuing small claim suits then you're heading down the cliff as it is. If I operated a paysite and was making about $7500 a month and I noticed some people were leaking my stuff, I would pop into the thread and say "if you can't pay, then be sure to spread my name around, free publicity if you like my art fam". OR you can go full fucking spergout like FAFcomics.

He used noise grain, blurring, filters, attaching Metadata tags to his pictures unique to every download so he could specifically track down who leaked his shitty pictures and dox their physical addresses including their name, age, photos of them, usernames on social media sites; he destroyed his legit customers because he crippled their access to their purchases because he was so paranoid.

Ubisoft's copyright protection for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas Two was so retarded they locked out everyone who owned a digital copy of the game instead of physical CD version and they couldn't fix it so they had to go on Piratebay and download a cracked version of the game and use THAT to patch the game.

Stop fighting the nature of the beast, welcome to the Internet, piracy is down the hall and to the left.

 No.53255

This is why I specifically seek out artists who let me do what I want as long as credit is given. I avoid the controlling assholes that don't let me even modify or distribute. Fuck em'.

Pic related. Reminds me that I own a physical copy of SimCity4, and it crashes constantly, but my "cracked" piratebay version is perfectly stable.

As an artist I don't care much for the sharing of art outside of paywalls, I'd never paywall my art as long as I'm getting paid to make the damn thing.

The only problem is the non-artists attitude towards us. It's a lot of time and effort put into something you guys will jerk your meat to for five minutes.

 No.53269

>>53265

Unless you have a physical drawing from the artist delivered from them, not a copied print or something then you're right.

Doesn't count for art books, prints, and characters have their own rights.

>someday someone will destroy or remove all the pokemon, digimon, and MLP stuff because it infringes copyright and trademarks from companies.

That's just the way of the world though. I spend upwards of 80 hours on videos that a few hundred people or maybe a thousand will watch for half an hour or so, but when you add that all up you've provided a net benefit in entertainment to the world. Do I make money out of it, no, but that's just how it is, most people will never get paid for their passion. Honestly paywall content isn't my biggest pet hate, it's artists that methodically go through and exterminate all their old stuff that people liked from the net.

 No.53278

>>53275

You can't blame 'em, this fetish community IS a shameful thing to be apart of.

Oh and tough luck getting a job in a studio if you're dox'd and are tied to your art.

And as a video editor, I don't think you've ever copped the amount of vitriol artists have copped for being protective of their work. Hell people out rightly SUPPORT video creators when they lash out at people sharing their video uncredited on facebook.

 No.53279>>53328

>>53275

Asthexiancal deleted all his old stuff because he got angry about how it was being shared. I mean sure, the guy makes good stuff to my eye, but that's just stupid and childish

 No.53328>>53334

>>53279

What's stupid and childish is the fact that you seem to think you are owed a single goddamn thing in this scenario.

 No.53334>>53357

>>53328

I just hate how you can't complain about something without someone diving into the "You're acting so entitled to everything" bit.

Yeah sure lots of internet anons are actually entitled shits, but an artist having the rights to pull all their shit and burn everything at the drop of a hat doesn't magically mean that action isn't stupid and unreasonable.

 No.53346

Personally, I'm of the opinion that when an artist makes a voluntary choice to distribute digital copies of his works on the internet, he is forfeiting all rights to it, essentially placing it into public domain.

It's especially weird in the case of commissions. The artist is paid to produce a singular work, exclusively for a single customer, so as long as he is paid his interest in it should end there. He can't gain anything more as the transaction is complete. It is, thus, actually the CONSUMER who is losing value of this exclusivity by freely distributing the work, as others now have access to it for free. It's a bit like buying a car, and then letting other people drive it for free; do you think the guy who sold you the car will give a flying fuck that you're doing this? Do you think he should have the RIGHT to prevent you from doing this?? Absurd.

 No.53357>>53389

So you're asshurt that artists are people too. Gotcha.

 No.53365

>internet amateur artist who only has fame in the furry fandom and literally nowhere else takes down art

>one out of a few thousand did this

Literally nothing important happened. The artist is one of many and is replaceable. 5 new artists will fill the void in a week. Art has little value now that the internet has let every amateur idiot spit their garbage out to an audience uncontrolled. Quality control doesn't apply anymore. Why even give a fuck if one artist vanishes? They're not special or a limited commodity.

Big deal if an artist owns their stuff and not you, so what? There is such an influx of new art daily that if one artist won't let you see it another will. Stop crying over this shit. Artists aren't special anymore. The modern era will not produce another Leonardo da Vinci. The modern era mostly spits out more fan art of franchises that have way too much art already, does the world need yet more MLP art? No. If artists stopped drawing MLP fan art, the world would still have a surplus of crap for what is only a toy commercial.

 No.53370

>>53237 (OP)

I agree with the OP in only one respect. Artists paywalling their shit and sperging out about it should inspire onesself to learn to draw and git gud so you can make your own shit without relying on autists who pull shit like this

"I can't think of anything to say against that so i'm just going make some bullshit up gottem"

Yeah, artists are people too, and when people are stupid and unreasonable it doesn't suddenly stop being stupid and unreasonable because they're artists

that's part of why people and sites that back their shit up is so important, because whether they do it themselves or if it's all gone because they made the mistake of drawing a character with too-small breasts and tumblr nuked the blog for "pedophilia", art going missing forever is awful, and it helps no one involved.

Your next words were going to be something about me acting entitled

>Your next words were going to be something about me acting entitled

Well, you are. You're wringing your hands over "losing" something you never had in the first place. Even ignoring how offputting an artist would probably find this attitude (and rightfully so) it's doing YOU no favors to get lathered up over other people's stuff.

 No.53402>>53412

>>53399

From purely a utilitarian standpoint, art is MADE TO BE SEEN. What possible value could an artist derive from keeping it from its audience? He might as well have never bothered drawing it in the first place, and just kept it in his own head!

 No.53412>>53519

>>53402

A number of artists draw shit because they like drawing shit. It's called recreation. You may not BE the audience. It may have never been intended for an audience at all. Just because art is created doesn't mean it was created for you.

 No.53519>>53530

>>53412

Nobody creates things and then just keeps them on their own computer hidden away from the world, unless they're paranoid it's not good enough or otherwise have social anxiety or whatever.

If an artist wipes their gallery, they intend for nobody to see it. They're ragequitting the fandom. Strawmanning the argument into it being about what a single person wants isn't going to work.

 No.53524

I think art is a social thing. We want to share and experience the feelings together. So for an artist to restrict what we can do with their art or characters is wrong to me. All my characters are under the CC-BY and I'm learning to draw.

 No.53525

Artists are free to delete whatever they drew. It's not their fault someone else forgot to save their work beforehand. They are one of many so I wouldn't miss it too much.

Uh huh. And I'm not obligated to give enough of a shit to not rip off their stuff whenever possible. You're not entitled to customers.
