That's just the way of the world though. I spend upwards of 80 hours on videos that a few hundred people or maybe a thousand will watch for half an hour or so, but when you add that all up you've provided a net benefit in entertainment to the world. Do I make money out of it, no, but that's just how it is, most people will never get paid for their passion. Honestly paywall content isn't my biggest pet hate, it's artists that methodically go through and exterminate all their old stuff that people liked from the net.

Yeah sure lots of internet anons are actually entitled shits, but an artist having the rights to pull all their shit and burn everything at the drop of a hat doesn't magically mean that action isn't stupid and unreasonable.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that when an artist makes a voluntary choice to distribute digital copies of his works on the internet, he is forfeiting all rights to it, essentially placing it into public domain.

It's especially weird in the case of commissions. The artist is paid to produce a singular work, exclusively for a single customer, so as long as he is paid his interest in it should end there. He can't gain anything more as the transaction is complete. It is, thus, actually the CONSUMER who is losing value of this exclusivity by freely distributing the work, as others now have access to it for free. It's a bit like buying a car, and then letting other people drive it for free; do you think the guy who sold you the car will give a flying fuck that you're doing this? Do you think he should have the RIGHT to prevent you from doing this?? Absurd.

Literally nothing important happened. The artist is one of many and is replaceable. 5 new artists will fill the void in a week. Art has little value now that the internet has let every amateur idiot spit their garbage out to an audience uncontrolled. Quality control doesn't apply anymore. Why even give a fuck if one artist vanishes? They're not special or a limited commodity.

Big deal if an artist owns their stuff and not you, so what? There is such an influx of new art daily that if one artist won't let you see it another will. Stop crying over this shit. Artists aren't special anymore. The modern era will not produce another Leonardo da Vinci. The modern era mostly spits out more fan art of franchises that have way too much art already, does the world need yet more MLP art? No. If artists stopped drawing MLP fan art, the world would still have a surplus of crap for what is only a toy commercial.

If an artist wipes their gallery, they intend for nobody to see it. They're ragequitting the fandom. Strawmanning the argument into it being about what a single person wants isn't going to work.

I think art is a social thing. We want to share and experience the feelings together. So for an artist to restrict what we can do with their art or characters is wrong to me. All my characters are under the CC-BY and I'm learning to draw.

Artists are free to delete whatever they drew. It's not their fault someone else forgot to save their work beforehand. They are one of many so I wouldn't miss it too much.
